Would you piss on Stephen Conroy if he was on fire?

  • Yes, but only a dribble

  • No, I'd go find a tank of petrol

  • Yes, he doesn't deserve his utter sh*tstain scumbucket reputation

I still haven't forgiven this slimy *er for trying to impose internet censorship upon us, but he's really taking things to a new low. He used to be in charge of regulating online gambling and he's just taken a new job.... lobbying for the gaming industry.

Christ knows what favors this scumbag did his new employer while he was in office, it doesn't bear thinking about. Oh, and of course he'll still be paid his generous government pension for life because we wouldn't want the poor dear suffering on only 500k a year or whatever his cushy new gig pays. What an utter shithead.

This year has taught us that corporate crooks come in both parties but mainly conservative movements. That means that possibly you may find the odd socialist in conservative partys.

Like deficit spending, a post-politics job as lobbyist is only the end of the world if it's someone from the the supposedly progressive side of politics that does it.
More weak defence from the weakest mind on the politics board.

You are perfectly capable of making a thread about Andrew Robb or Alexander Downer.

Nonetheless the point is valid-lots of them do this stuff after resigning. Who cares. Get over it. Plenty bigger battles than this rather trivial one.

Get real, this isnt just because he is lobying.
Anyone can see the bias in this position, regluator of gambling to lobbying for them?
Maybe he just got lucky and they were looking for unconnected retired politicians.
Before he got this plum job, he was supposed to be representing our best interests, now he represents gambling, how much has his position changed?
Lobying is the final destination for politicians, they get paid by our tax dollars setting things up for unions and businesses, then retire with a plum job.
I think it should be illegal to ever hold a certain position and then end up working for the people you were fighting.
Next we will have pro meth ministers selling drugs.
Gambling is probably the second worst thing in this country, after meth, so there is no excuse irregardless of which side you want to defend.

Bullshit Gough - only for the limited few that are rusted on.

I'd wager (if that's OK Mr Conroy) that the majority of citizens would have a major problem - esp if it is in an area of previous influence and it is just magnified if it is on the list of potentially/preceptively evil & damaging industries e.g. Defence, Booze, Gambling, working for a foreign power, pharma etc.

Personally I'd like far, far more separation between when a Minister can stick his nose in the trough

Dear friend. Conroy is so uncorrupt his political alignment is generally perceived by the opposition as a threat to all semitic interests. For the LNP is nothing more than a Coles and Woolworths duopoly cloaked under a star of David that can also shift shape.

Gough is right or are people unaware that former Liberal Richard Colbeck is the chairman of the same lobby group? Certainly been less attention paid there.

That said, never liked Conroy and this lowers my opinion of him even further. Gambling companies exploit human misery and give nothing back, their lobbyists should be blocked at the gates. Given his maiden speech to Parliament included calls to civilise capitalism, this smacks of rank hypocrisy. He's a s**t.
