Not sure if serious...

Ellard was hobbling around on one leg after getting crunched by Brown early, could barely get out of a jog.
Ellard was struggling before he copped that knock. McLean copped a heavy knock too, but he still managed to run out the game.

Ellard is not in our best 25 players.

Why are you comparing McLean getting cleaned up to Ellard clearly having an injured leg? There's a difference between shaking off a bump and literally not being able to run. And I'm fairly sure that it happened within about 15 minutes of Ellard coming on the ground...

Anyway, who cares.

thornton back onto the pitch

for the 6th time this season i have said this. i would rather him score 1 goal compared to levis 5 behinds
could win by the point ^____________^

Ellard is not in our best 25 players.

No one (except guns!) ever said he was.

The problem with picking your best 22 every week is you're exposed when injuries hit. Ellard was the next in line with Robinson injured, but he hadn't played for 8 weeks and was subsequently not AFL match-ready.

I know you vehemently disagree with a rotational policy. But we've used 14 players outside our 'best 25' this year - we need to be smarter about maximizing the output of that group.

Whether or not Ratts gets the best out of the players or has good structures etc doesn't matter... in that I have to echo previous words and say Ratts just doesn't deserve this. Yes we could have won if not for shocking kicking but we should never have been in that position if the players gave a damn from the outset.

Well done playing group. You just trolled a Carlton great and True Blue man who will likely have a very bad sleep tonight.
Can't believe I'm reading stuff about Ratten needing to be sacked. Just looked at our kicking efficiency both in front of goal and around the ground and that tells the tale. Unless the coach is responsible for dropping the ball on every player's foot, it has nothing to do with him.

Structurally, we were sound. We dominated them in inside 50s - that is a clear indication of this.

bad luck guys, as a docker supporter i understand your pain, had you guys pencilled in last two rounds
No luck involved. Just played our worst game in years.

On the plus side for you, Freo make the finals and probably get a chance to go further against the Eagles in a huge derby.

I can't believe people are blaming the midfielders.

We had 74 more disposals, 21 more hit-outs, 23 more inside 50's. How much more do people want them to do? they even kicked 4 of our 11 goals.

This is what happens when your forwards can't kick straight from anywhere on the field and your defenders are undersized and have their opponents kick accurately against them.

The kicking efficiency going forward was dreadful. Absolutely dreadful. As was the defensive pressure.

Ellard didn't play well, but he's not the sole reason we lost. There were many more of our senior players that played bad as well. For me, the buck stops with Gibbs talking back to Ratts at 3qtr time. You cost us a goal through a crap effort and so you cop your fair whack, you don't talk back to the coach. Needs to be dropped for that and that alone.

The most frustrating thing about this year, and I'm not sure if it's Ratten's fault or the whole match commitee, is the boys inability to work themselves back into a game when the opposition gets the jump on them. i remember when Judd first came onboard, we won some great 'come from behind' games, but that ability to grind back into a game has all but disappeared, and you see the better teams, especially Sydney, masters at that. we have talented players, we just don't have the coaching staff that can psychologically get that into the players.

90% of the problem is Judd. He is the only player that does it, and the team all wait for him to do it. THEY DO NOt TAKE THIS RESPONSIBILTY ONTO THEMSELVES TO DO LIKEWISE WHEN THE CHIPS ARE DOWN.

Injuries, shminjuries. West coast had injuries, Hawthorn, heck even Gold Coast lost heaps of players, but psychologically THE PLAYERS don't have it, and Ratten as a coach, hasn't been able to instill it.
And that is why it is better for the team for him to give the captaincy over to murphy. Muphy (who is more of an extrovert) will lift his game as he did when judd was out and inspire the team more than judd. He has a more demanding leadership style.

Anyone pushing for Malthouse is dumber than the board members who would have to back flip on re-signing Ratten to sack him. Eddie sacked Malthouse after a GF like we sacked Fevola after an AA season. That sets off a warning light with me. Do not want Malthouse.

Only because Eddie is having a relationship with Bucks.

First time in my life Im ashamed to be a Carlton supporter tonight..after the dark years and all tonight is the lowest point for me...in the dark years we were actually pathetic...now we beat up on a team by 100 points one week and lose to GCthe next...beat collingwood by 10 goals one week...get pumped the next, take it to the cats one week...get flogged by port the next....our players should individually hang there ****en heads in shame...Judd down to casboult 1-22 te lot if them were a ****en disgrace...

Unfortunately for ratten he couldn't get the heads of these nancy pretty boys in shape week in and out and the gutless wonders picked and chose when they wanted to play for him...recruit girls like gibbs, yarran, Garlett etc...they look a million bucks when we're flying and rubbish when we're not!

I feel for ratts I really do Hes had a list full of talent but the majority have the heart the size of a pea...also guys like white, Ellars, casboult, will never be players sorry, they do one thing Great but 10 wrong ..

Gutted, heartbroken, will be staying home next week, they don't deserve our support after that....each one of those 22 blokes in a Carlton jumper tonight should be embarrassed beyond embarrassed!!!! Go and get ****ed!

I'm not taking the piss here as we have been beaten twice by the Suns in Cairns but do you think it could of been the conditions? Not all grounds in Queensland are up to scratch like the Gabba which is a beautiful ground all year round.

The loss was excruciating....but there may be a silver lining.
Say we'd won our last 2 games and finished eighth, in all likelihood we would have travelled west for the Elimination Final, and if recent history is any guide we would suffer an honourable loss....This would have led to the same mistaken mindset going into another preseason, that we are not far away from contending, and just need a little bit of luck with injuries....No, tonights loss is a unequivocal sign that we have to improve dramatically in all areas ( personnel, coaching , PHYSICALITY, mentality, gameplan etc ), if we are even going to dream of being contenders in 2013.....

Team for next season:

B: Thornton-----------Jamison----------Casboult

H: Duigan-------Scotland---------Laidler

C: Carrazzo-----------Armfield-----------Robinson

H: Yarran------------Waite-----------Simpson

F: Walker-----------Henderson----------Betts

RR: Krezuer, Judd, Murphy

Int: Warnock/Hampson, Bell, McLean, Garlett

Delist: Bower, White, Joseph, Ellard, Tuohy, (Gibbs)
Depth: Russell, Curnow, (Gibbs)

Casboult belongs in the backline. 198cms, 99kgs. I think he has a place in Carlton but not the forward line. Not yet anyway..... Harry Taylor.....
If armfield isn't turning the ball over every second kick he is brilliant.
I'd like to see yarran play in the forward line I just dont know how we'd go moving it off half back when no one spreads if he isn't back there. I'm still iffy about placing him there.
You could nearly guarantee a Simpson/betts movement to be much more consistent then Garlett/betts.
And I'd really like to see Warnock/Hampson have an injury free stretch so poor old Kreuz can have a break, let him develop as a ruck/forward. Which brings me to my last point.
Henderson. I like the idea, but well yeah. Maybe a pre season developing hampson/Warnock/kreuz to comfortably play ff would be more beneficial then Henderson.

Tonight's loss was the best thing that has happened for us since round 4. Not only did it really cement attitude/moral problems within the club its forcing people to reflect on the year in detail. If we made finals our current issues would have been swept under the rug to be bought up after another yo-yo year just leading to more disappointment. The skill is in the list, without a doubt, we failed this year because
In order:
1) players attitude and moral -players
2) random formations and all in or bankrupt game plan -ratts
3) injuries and no depth -ratts/players

Just woken up, hoping the pain would have subsided a little and it hasn't. It's worse.
The team has shat all over it's supporter base and it's coach. I feel sick, let down and angry.
Ratts doesn't deserve this. The 2002 to 2007 losses hurt, but there was little expectation then...
THIS hurts. Off to work...
