BOMBER BLOW: CUPIDO KNEE SURGERY
Wednesday, 26 November 2003

Essendon has had its first major setback of the pre-season with news today that brilliant forward Damian Cupido will undergo knee surgery. Cupido was troubled by patella tendonitis for much of last season but specialists have decided the condition now requires surgery. The operation will mean Cupido won't run again until early January but he is still expected to be available for Essendon's Round One clash with Port Adelaide in late March.

Might be why he finished Last in the Time trial the other day

:(

It also might explain his up & down season. Never heard him complain about it unlike some Bomber supporters around here.

Time for people to get off his back and give him some time to get it all together then, like that other Bomber poster, watch out as he's all Big Kev!

The man knows what it's like to bounce back from injury. Two shoulder reconstructions and he still didn't give in. Looking forward to him being ready for round 1.

This should also give him a good opportunity to build upper body strength. He's too committed to let a relatively minor injury get him down.

All the best to him.

6 week lay off for surgery of this nature. Did notice he showed real signs of the injury in his running at the cricket match last night.

On Walsh, the problem with glandular fever is it can and will linger for some time, thus delaying his ability to train (incidentally this was the same illness that befelled O'Keefe last summer - let's hope that the resulting recovery doesn't result in the same outcomes)

Although cupido is a good player, i doubt he is a key player at the moment, besides essendon hav plenty more small forwards to cover for him.

exactly - Benny Haynes, Mercuri, Murphy, Alvey, etc

In hindsight Johnny I agree with you there...it was horrific watching him taking runs when batting. It also explained why he didn't bowl and stood as a close infielder. Trust me Johnny, you would have been horrified as I was

Better than Cupido ?? No no no, not in a million years.

We said worthy replacements, not meaning better if you had have read.

Besides you highly under-rate Richards and Haynes then. 2 Special talented kids.
