Anyone else get the crownbet ad about 5mins ago where he said "now given the Swans haven't won down at Simmonds Stadium since the TURN OF THE CENTURY"??

WTF?!

Crownbet (a vital AFL sponsor) must've forgotten one of our most memorable games in 2011.... Ridiculous.

EDIT: It was on the ch7 coverage. Hammer threw to "Matty Campbell".

Would be interesting to read the kinnear beatson or coaches/game plan thread that floated around our board towards the end of last season.

Excerpt from Herald Sun article. Interesting bit of trivia 101
"Territory might be what all clubs are fighting for in 2016 in a battle for time in forward half supremacy, but the Swans haven’t bought in.

While Geelong (+9 minutes 02 seconds for time in forward-half differential), Western Bulldogs (+6min30secs), Hawthorn (+6min30secs), West Coast (5min45secs) and even Adelaide (+3min54secs) press up to pin their rivals back in their defensive halves, the Swans barely sit in the positive at 22 seconds."

Sinky Robbo said on 360 that they are doing a big story on Defensive game , in Tuesday's far right grubby Herald-Sun
Well if this is their story its hardly anything but stats and a hand wave of analysis akin to "Ooh the Swans are different to the rest."

The article Beford mentions above by Sam Edmund is here:

IN THE premiership paddock the contenders are huddled together like bulls in one corner. There’s the Geelong bull, Hawthorn bull, Western Bulldogs bull and West Coast bull, and all with similar mannerisms.

But on the far side of the paddock the prized bull stands on his own. This is the Sydney bull — and he does things very differently to his stablemates.

The Swans of 2016 have become a unique beast in pursuit of another flag. The way they score and the way they defend sets them apart from virtually every other premiership threat.

This article actually strongly reminded me of the analysis made by Port Adelaide Poster Janus earlier in the year about counter-attack and counter-press styles of game. Well worth having a read if your a bit nerdy about your footy.

However while Janus at the time felt we were playing the counter-press style of football, the portrayal of our game in the HUN makes it sound like the counter-attack model?? It would would be interesting to see what some of our recent heatmaps look like nevertheless.

Rohan Connolly turning into a bit of a jaded old fart isn't he?

"Sydney's Thursday night clash with Hawthorn should be a game which, by rights, has the football world buzzing.
Is that actually the case, though? Beyond those with a vested interest in either camp, it's fair to say the mood might instead be one more approaching resignation than feverish anticipation".

:rolleyes::thumbsu:

Amazing how the AFL world never fails to blame us for not being exponentially disabled at the drafting table, with recruiting, and with developing our next generation.

There is nothing wrong at all in that

They needn't worry for too long because this year is the hawks last hurrah and they'll fall quickly down the ladder next year.
