I've known this for about a week (one of the benefits of hacking the steam registry ).

The game has changed for the worse imo, I still find myself playing on some servers that have no new weapons (vanilla TF2). Vanilla TF2 is such an awesome game, even though the surf servers have died off .

About two weeks ago I made $60 selling my backpack (I had 2 buds and a vintage bills hat along with about 20 other hats).

Yeah, hats and to a lesser extent weapon updates ruined TF2.

Still, was given a key and crate for some shit hat one time, opened it up, bang, milkman with green flames effect. Traded it for 250 bucks.

Profit.

Hat Fortress 2. It's more about idling and collecting hats than actually playing the game .

But vanilla TF2 was so much fun and balanced, it's good Valve update the game with 4GB patches every week but I just prefer the old, fun TF2.

it is very annoying to have half your team standing in the spawn room doing nothing but typing "unusual something-or-other for sale 2 ref" or whatever

Go on better servers.

For all the complaining about how the game has been ruined, I still enjoy just as much as I used to.

Because before they came out there was actually a consistent visual aesthetic to the game. Now it's just a cheap whore for every second rate game that gets a major steam release.

I'm not sure how the game is worse now.


So many more new weapons, all are balanced (expect one or two), people on regular servers don't care that much about cosmetic items.

It's still brilliant.


And for those who complain about the Promo's, Valve actually doesn't make that much money off them.

They're really either a reward for people who bought the game, or a sweet bonus for ones thinking of buying it. It's actually helping small developers.

Game as good as it used to be. 80% of servers don't have idlers. Don't be a knobhead, get this game, it's free and still the best online FPS.

The reason they made it free is because they make far more money via the Mann Co. Store than from sales of the game.

Yeah, but Valve makes money from other games selling well, and they sell even better if there are TF2ers buying a game solely for hats.

Either way, just think it was a superior game when it was balanced to begin with.

Got this game at launch and played it for 2 years. Loved it to death but the game really lost it's lustre when grinding for achievements and hats became more important than winning the game.

Wish they just left it like it was.

There is no point grinding for achievements anymore though. Hats and items are just random drops.

TBF people just went on servers and helped eachother with achievements

Y'all lame, game is still fairly balanced if you

1.Play as an actual team rather then run single file into the Brass beast as pyros.
2.If you dont suck


I got a Legit point score of 49 with the heavy once on a payload due to everyone sucking.


Still one of the most fun game's you'll ever play.

Didn't realise this. Been a while since i've played. I just remember playing and you'd have people sitting in the spawn helping each other get achievements. Hell the only way i got alot of them was to get a mate, find and empty server and grind/cheat. A wanted to have the new weapons but it was no fun getting them.

I realise all these updates added alot of longetivity to the game. Why couldn't they just have given everyone the new weapons right of the bad?

That's what i really hate about modern shooters these days. level one nub playing for the first time not only has the disadvantage of being inexperienced at the game, he also doesn't have access to alot of the best weapons. These are shooters, not MMO's. Don't even get me started on kill streak rewards.

It's why i keep coming back to Halo, and what i used to love about TF2. You jump in a game and regardless of skill or hours played, everyone starts off equal.

Good luck getting a team to work together on pubs unless a decent amount are clannies.

I still did enjoy clan battles before I left, but they required too much organisation for me to bother.
