Just checked Tex’s stats because I had a gut feeling something special was happening with Tex, and not just the 500 goals.

This year, Tex is averaging per match:

• 4 goals
• 17.7 disposals

In other years:

• Tex’s best goal average was in 2012 with 3.3
• Tex’s best disposal average was in 2017 with 14.9

So what this means, is that he is figuratively and literally in the best form of his life! After so many injuries and so many hardships, he is pulling out some sort of miracle here.

If he packed his bags in 2021 and called it quits, he deserved club legend status. Now with his current form (2021 and 2022 form), he is comparable to any elite forwards of the now and the past!

No, that doesn’t mean he’s in the form of his life!

He’s playing well, but you’re comparing a tiny sample size of 3 games with season long averages.

I’ll spell it out to you because you don’t seem to want to focus on the context but only interested in the John bashing..

Rachele is being heralded as a young gun and acknowledged by the wider footy community as one of the best kicks as a forward (small, big, miscellaneous). And rightly so. I’m a big fan of his leg.

If you bothered to check the attached link. Rachele has kicked a total of 12 goals and 6 behinds for an average of 2 goals 1 behind. Tex has kicked 12 goals and 3 behinds for an average of 4 goals 1 behind. Goal kicking accuracy (per scoring shots) is in favour of Tex with 80%, with Rachele on 67% accuracy.

Generally, kicking accuracy has no bearing on how experienced you are as a player. It’s mostly a natural- born trait, and you can be inexperienced with a better kicking accuracy than a 200-300 gamer.

Goals averages and kicking accuracy can be compared with any forward no matter height or age. It’s not rocket science!

Anyway, I can at least take comfort in the fact Graham Cornes in his 7 News segment. He says:
“Tex...he’s never played better”.

It really isn’t just the 3 games this year, but his entire run in 2021 that’s carrying onto this year. That’s what’s got me excited. Like, I want to give Tex a cuddle, kind of excited.
