For me personally, i reckon that despite the loss, Saturday night's game was the most fun i've had at the football this year.

It's so much better when there's a large number of opposing supporters to give a bit to and cop a bit from. It's the way suburban football used to be.

If you can't handle that sort of thing (and most of it is just in fun) then perhaps you should be doing other things with your time than going to football games.

Me thinks you've probably lived a rather sheltered life, too.

I agree that it's always a unique and enjoyable football experience to sit in a 50/50 crowd.....fires up both groups to support their team.

I disagree that you think it is OK to be physically touched or verbally threatened. Banter and barracking is fine.....but I always draw the line at touching......there's just no need..... ;)

Ummm...who said anything about being physically touched or verbally threatened?????

I ONLY partake in good natured stuff.

I just think some people need to grow a slightly thicker skin, 'tis all.

So hang on one minute you've said here that your disabled brother was waving a flag & a few port supporter had a go at him which you didn't like which is totally understandable & then next your saying that you should go rub it in & make it clear who won the game. Just ask the crow fan who was mouthing off after the game to every port supporter within ear shot until he said it to the wrong person who took offence & gave him a broken nose, around gate 5 members section i believe & no it wasn't me that did it. I walked out of that ground knowing that our team though undermanned put up a gutsy effort.

I still say that is making an arseclown of yourself by basically baiting people like that, but of course some supporters have a bit more respect than others don't they?

I couldn't have been much prouder of our guys with the effort they put into that game, it was just a few skill errors/turnovers/giving away undisciplined free kicks that really let us down otherwise i have no doubt that we would've won but it wasn't to be, but hopefully we can make the finals & meet your mob again. A cut throat elimination final between the Port & Adelaide i would like to see that. :)

He was waving his flag. Not saying a word, he doesn't know how to rub it in to the fans he was just happy. If they had a go at me then I would have just ignored them, but because they said it to my defenseless brother, I had to tell them to ease up because he doesn't know what is going on. They also said some things that went way too far and became personal. What i'm saying is, there is nothing wrong with saying a few things like "Go Crows" or "See you next year Port" because every supporter does it at one stage or another and there is no point denying it. It's a cycle. Every fan likes to have the wood over any opposing team. I'm sure a lot of Port fans will get us back next year when they win.

Exactly right Mad Dog, no one had the right to threaten someone with physical violence even if is just in jest.

To many time (and I am 100% sure it is vice versa) an incident happens at a showdown and this is the reason I wont go to a Power home game any more as my partner just doesn’t appreciate have violence used as a bully boy tactics to keep her from enjoying the game (for the record she is very quite at crows games it is embarrassing).

Na I can handle it, I just dont retaliate, these port guys were like, "OI CROWS SUPPORTER" and I just watched the game, was funnier watching them try and get my attention.

Anyway I love a bit of a banter and like being a smart-ass with regards to whats happening on the field, I consider myself somewhat of a comedian at the football ;)

Sorry. Slight misunderstanding here, Gets!

I wasn't referring to you as being sheltered. I was directing the comment at the broader football going public which seems to be getting a little precious when it comes to crowd banter. It just happens that yours is the post directly above mine. I wasn't commenting on it (your post). If i was i would've quoted it.

My apologies for any confusion. :)

Gets! opening post described his experience at the footy....being pulled by the jumper and threatened.

you replied with..............."If you can't handle that sort of thing (and most of it is just in fun) then perhaps you should be doing other things with your time than going to football games.

...now I've been a tad busy lately ........but your response suggests to me that you condone that activity as being "part of going to the football".

ummmm - I disagree...... :)

The bad crowd element usually always comes from the low social economic areas. The people that in most cases have the unemployed nowhere life that need the football and their team to win to brag to opposition supporters to justify themselves in society. The team that has a large group of supporters from areas like that always seem to have far more crowd problems that the teams that dont. Success and people from low income areas arent always a good mix and Centrals are re-proving this theory again now.

Based on your theory, explain what happened at Unley last weekend, and the trouble with the Sturt cheersqaud this year.

This is nothing more than narrow-minded, stereotypical bulldust. Have you ever been to an SANFL game since 1990? I very much doubt it based on what you have said.

Has that incident actually been cleared up yet? Nothing been released from the SANFL that I have come across to say the matter has been dealt with.

Sturt say it was Central, and vice verca, although the common theme is Central as far as incidents in recent times.

Please read my most recent post on this subject. I thought that would clear the matter up. Obviously it hasn't.

There's been well over 100 posts in this thread since that initial post. The dicussion can change a fair bit in that amount of time.

You're really just putting words into my mouth now Mad Dog and i don't appreciate being told i condone something that i do NOT condone by someone who doesn't even know me.

All i said was ........oh forget it. What's the point?

all good hombre.

Crowz Gal that would have been me for sure. Take care.

I've been to games where Crow fans show no respect for the opposistion, even Pie fans can show that to their opponents. Is this because Adelaide football fans are still in the days of suburban teams?

What sort of showing of respect are you referring to? Can you provide some examples of what you expect should happen that doesn't?

An Essendon supporter talking about crowd behaviour....spare me. As for Pie fans showing respect to their opponents you obviously don't mean the same ones that were at Docklands early this year. They were too busy booing Adelaide off after they won.

Every team has their individual idiots. Collingwood and Port more so. But by saying this comment you just make yourself look like a complete utter idiot.

Are you on medication?

I wouldn't have minded getting touched by quite a few of the women i seen wearing crows jumpers on Saturday night & if they wanted to they could've gotten as physical with me as they wanted to, all they had to was ask. :p

I wish. but that is the pot calling the kettle black. Not many supporters overall in Victoria has any respect for "interstate" sides.

You still regard it as a suburban competition without the old ground atmosphere. Ffffft.
