Rather get more development into Dawes, Jack, etc.

Re: Fevola

I'd love Fev but the cost (trade and contract wise) would just be too high for us to facilitate.

Getting Taz back to the club is far more viable and would be an awesome romantic notion.

Get Taz.

We have plenty of developing key forwards with Dawes, Cloke, Rus, Jack etc.

We are probably a little thin with key defenders, especially if Presti is to retire. Only really have Reid and Brown and Goldsack too.

Taz would add some more stability and experience, particularly as we are challenging for silverware.

We need some more Back Up in the KPP Posts. TAZ would be Good but I still think we need Developing Talls in the VFL and for the Future and not just for 1-2 Season that Tarrant would give us

Agree Dave but with compromised drafts in the next 2yrs, just how many quality young talls will be available at our draft selections?

Taz will provide us with the perfect opportunity to keep developing players like Reid and Brown or until we can draft a few more.

If Presti is to retire, Taz would slot in perfectly and don't forget that even if Taz gives us 2 seasons service, we are challenging for silverware NOW, not in the future (nobody knows what will happen in the future).

Re: Fevola

"Fev leaving Carlton has actually made 2 clubs worse"
- Dave Hughes on Before the Game

Re: Fevola

Won't happen because it should of happened last but would make opposition teams find it hard to team up on Cloke, Dawes and Fevola.

Re: Fevola

He might be around the mark of our 2nd round selection.

Trend has been towards picking Vics in the ND with WA selections mostly as rookies.

Also I'm pretty sure that we will be targeting KPPs and possibly even a ruck so I doubt he will be high on our list.

Darcy Barden from Vic Metro or Tom Lynch from Vic Country would have to be chances.

Yeah I know you love your KPPs Master. Caddy and Barden are on the Collingwood 1st round radar. Right now I'm leaning towards the small + medium forward route because I see Davis + Medhurst really dropping off in future seasons. Dawes and Cloke up forward looks rock solid. Reid and Brown same down back. Then JA can play either if needed. L.Brown still is working fine and could be for another 1-3 years for all we know. I know you are thinking long term but I think in the immediate that we can have players who can help our club like Mitch Duncan did this season for Geelong as opposed to a KPP who will take 3-5 years to develop into an AFL standard player by which time Gold Coast + West Sydney are the dominant teams in the competition. Our window is open now so I think we need to make the most of it.

I like the fact that people are drying their enthusiasm on Fev. But do we need Taz? We have Reid, Brown, Brown, Presti and Jack Anthony who can all play KPD.

If he said "I want to come back to Collingwood". Then certainly we should do everything we can to accomodate him. But he is playing well in WA and they won't let him go like Sydney with Ryan O'Keefe when he wanted to move home.

Fev to Pies = Carey to Crows.

No thanks

:D

Thanks Ron. I quite enjoyed that post. Big fan buddy (of the NBA Ron Artest). Joakim Noah is my man but Ron Artest is a funny dude too. :thumbsu:

Do you know for Sure that the Pies are Looking at Barden and Caddy?

Doubt Caddy will be there at our 1st Pick but Barden would be a Chance

Re: Fevola

Personally, I think that if there are any trades, they will result from current Collingwood players wanting more opportunity. Wood might want to go to Gold Coast.. maybe a half-back flanker like Anthony or Goldsack might want a guaranteed game. Maybe Josh. It will depend on whether these guys want to stick around and take the risk of being a fringe player. If they dont want to leave, I think we will let go Cook and Corrie and possibly Rusling and have a few retirements.... and use the draft to fill those spots.

If Taz wanted to come back, he need to make the running.... like tell Freo that he wants Collingwood or he will retire..

Mitch Thorp - Won't get drafted as we agreed last weekend.
Chris Irving - Possible rookie selection.
Myles Sewell - St Kilda are looking at him very seriously as are North Melbourne and Hawthorn at this stage. Collingwood have indicated no interest.
Derick Wanganeen - Unlikely. Should have last season though I agree.
Shane Page - Same as Wanganeen.
Kyle Hartigan - Hawthorn and St Kilda are both high on him. Likely rookie pick for either club.
Serhat Temel - Read Wanganeen.

Hartigan and Sewell are the 2 ideal fits for Collingwood. Just Collingwood are not looking all that seriously at either of them.

The mature agers that are being looking into are Nathan Phillips (WA) and a few VFL names including Ashley Arrowsmith are also being looked at but less likely. Phillips at this point in time is the most likely mature ager to be seen in Black and White in 2011.

Does anyone know anymore on Irving, I did hear that he was still doing some weight sessions at the Westpac Centre. Sandringham games never get shown on ABC so I don't really know how he's been playing.

Another player that might be handy for the Pies is James Magner from Sandy. A good long term replacement for Ben Johnson in the back pocket
