Didn't have all the attributes but if he didn't have the serious injuries he would probably still be playing.I played against Brock in the under 18's, I never rated him that high...

Guys with less than 3 years footy:You said there is about 20 up and coming kids that could have a similar thread...was wondering if there was someone from Nth that I should look out for this season?
Good Post...to be honest, I don't think many realise just how good he is..Bontempelli seemed to take the spotlight....I knew I would get this reaction and look forward to bumping it up during the season ;-)Guys with less than 3 years footy:
Brad Crouch
O'Meara, Martin
Wines, Wingard
Hogan, Tyson
Boyd, Bontempelli, Macrae
Cameron, Shiel, Treloar, Josh Kelly, Hoskin-Elliiot, Haynes, Dev Smith, Patton (pre-injury)
Daniher
Brandon Ellis
There's 20. And North fans are very bullish about Luke McDonald and he really could fit in this list.
I rate Stringer. But not more than Cameron, Wines or Wingard that's for sure and you'd be crazy to predict where these 20 end up in their career. You could start a thread for almost any one of these guys comparing them to greats of the game and besides Cameron who's already had a truly great season I think for the rest you'd be laughed out of town for an overly ambitious thread.
So to put it in short your opinion is he'll be even a level (or more) up from Macrae and the Bont?Good Post...to be honest, I don't think many realise just how good he is..Bontempelli seemed to take the spotlight....I knew I would get this reaction and look forward to bumping it up during the season ;-)

I think Stringer will be the real X-Factor player. Bonts will be the out and out consistant star. Macrae is below their level for star power but will be a ball magnet machine. I think Stringer is ready to explode this season and has had a real big pre-season full of confidence. Injury free, I'd be surprise if he doesnt kick 50 plus goals this season. So to put it in short your opinion is he'll be even a level (or more) up from Macrae and the Bont?
That's technically port adelaide's fault too.although Ollie didn't quite have the setbacks.
Why? Did you do the same thing to Dustin Martin? You've just jinxed the crap out of him now............................................
And when did I post a thread on Dusty? Why? Did you do the same thing to Dustin Martin?
I'd put Ollie Wines up as the 'next big thing' and he's 6 months younger than Stringer.

I think this warped idea that a key forward needs to be some 195cm+ freakishly athletic beast is good in theory, but falls down somewhat in practice. Buddy Franklin's don't grow on trees. The facts are some of the best key position forwards currently and of recent times have just not fit that bill. Natural football ability and goal sense will always win out, which stringer has in spades. He has smarts and strength, but not height or athleticism.

Jay Schulz 193cm
Taylor Walker 192cm
Jarryd Roughead 193cm
Nick Riewoldt 193cm
Jack Gunston 193cm
Josh Kennedy 194cm
Matthew Pavlich 192cm
And IMO his most apt comparison (just on-field hopefully for all Bulldogs fans sake) is Brendan Fevola who at 191cm was one of the best and most commanding Full Forwards of recent times. Stringer is listed at 192cm and if you listen to some bulldogs fans they suggest he's a bit taller still.
Taking all this into account and the fact he's built like a Full Forward already at age 20, its silly to say he's to short and not athletic enough to succeed as a key forward. Especially considering barring endurance (which you'd expect him to build over the coming years) he'd be equal or superior to all of the above players athleticism wise, except maybe Roughead.
It's port adelaide's fault stringer broke his leg badly in the under 18s?That's technically port adelaide's fault too.![]()
Their best player and captain is playing for another team while they pay his astronomical wage, they've taken a huge gamble on an unproven talent, they've gone all Richmond on their coaching ranks (musical chairs) and they're amongst the favourites for the spoon this year.$10 says every Dogs fan opens this thread thinking, "Please not a dogs fan as the OP."
