Hi guys
have been away for the past 2 and a half weeks and have missed out on two weeks of football. Cannot really be bothered reading through all the threads.

Would any body be kind enough to sum up the last two weeks for me. I know this is incredibly indulgant, and mods, you are more than welcome to deleate this thread if it is too self centred and not worthy

Information about personal players would be much appreciated. I basically only know the results of the last two games. Devestated about the Essendon game, Stoked about the Adelaide game, and can't wait for the geelong game!

Thankyou

What do you want to know?

Don't bother catching a replay of the Essendon game as it was an insipid performance all round.

Good win against Adelaide but they have been ordinary to say the least. Still to go over to AAMI and have a win against a side we have not beaten in about 6 seasons is a good effort.

Today is the real test.

Anything really.

The standouts in the Essendon games, the lowlights in the Adelaide games. Why Waite and Thornton aren't playing. And anything important. How our forwardline has functions, updates on Bower. Whatever you find important

Thanks. If it is too egotistical then mods, you're more than wlecome to delete this thread.

The Essendon game was horrendous & without doubt one of our worst performances in years. Only Lucas on debut and Simpson could leave the field reasonably happy with their performances.

The Adelaide game was much better. To be honest I can't remember any lowlights as it was a real team effort. Jeffy + Yaz teamed up brilliantly and caused periods of havoc. Judd brilliant in his return game. Lucas outstanding & White very impressive on debut. Robbo probably our worst and has been dropped accordingly - pressure and tackling is great but doesn't do enough.

Forward line has functioned OK. Setanta is out of form but still finds a way to have some impact on the scoreboard. Henderson has been very good. Hasn't done much in way of scoring over the last 2 weeks but has taken a heap of marks against Fletcher and Rutten, 2 very good tall defenders. Yarran, Garlett and Eddie in the one forward line was great to see. Every time the Adelaide defenders tried to run the ball out of their defensive 50 you could bet your bottom dollar that one of our 3 small forwards was chasing. It is all about pressure, pressure, pressure - and between Eddie, Yaz, Jeffy, Hendo and Setanta there is plenty of that which is fantastic.

Midfield working well but we are yet to see Judd and McLean together which is what we will see today. Judd was unbelievable last week and could well be in for a blinder today if Brock can block for him.

Thornton terribly out of form in the first few games so was dropped. Waite apparently asked to be dropped as he was way down on confidence. Waite could be back as early as next week but I suspect Thornton may have a tough time in trying to regain his spot.

Any other specific questions I'll do my best to answer.

SC, seriously appreciate that. Thanks. Just a few more things. What's the update on Bower (last game i saw was the Brisbane game), and how Warnock is doing, in accordance to Hampson and Jacobs in the VFL. Missed my footy horrendously, glad to be back. Will be exhausted for the Geelong game, but really eager to see how we go.

Keep in mind these are my opinions so people may not agree with them, if not, don't care, can't be bothered arguing with people today :p

Dons: no obvious standouts really. Lucas had an OK debut, we just didn't turn up to play, nor did we match Essendon’s intensity. Don't bother watching the reply....

Crows: We kicked the first 3/4 goals before they got on the board which was good. If the crows had kicked straighter they may have won (from memory they kicked about 16 behinds).

We let them back in the game, and at times when we had the run of play, we would hold the ball up in our backline and play "Tempo footy"...which if we do today against the Cats, will get us flogged. Lucas had a pretty good game, so did our 3 small forwards which seemed to work well. Also Simon White made his debut and did enough to keep Thornton’s spot, played a pretty good game.

Waite and Thornton: Rumours around the place is that Waite went to Ratts and asked to be dropped to the VFL for a spell because he was low on confidence and wasn't playing too well. Last week had an OK game for the Bullants, and from Reports here he apparently had a pretty good game yesterday.

Thornton was dropped because of 2 poor games and poor body language in the Essendon game, letting his opponent run off him, giving sprays to our players etc etc. Had a poor game with the Bullants last week, didn't play this week because of an ankle injury (rumour?)

Forward Line: Henderson is starting to get more of the ball and seems to be playing more of a CHF position. Starting to make marks stick which is good. Will continue to get better.

Setanta started off good, but has been very quiet the last few games, needs to time his leads better, as everytime he goes up for a mark on the lead, he always seems to be "under" the ball instead of just in front of it, so he is trying to mark over his head instead of on his chest. Though this works well when we have our 3 small forwards (Yarran, Betters and Garlett) crumbing at his feet.

Also, the decision to play our 3 small forwards last week worked well, as they are always chasing and pressuring the opposition’s backline which will create turnovers and more scoring shots for us.

Bower: As typical of the CFC, he was listed as having a 1 week injury and has been listed as "test" every week while being listed in the squad to play, only to be a last minute withdrawal (except last week). I think I saw a few posts around the place saying that we might see him back next week, not to sure, hopefully someone else can clarify?

Warnock is getting better with every run, but needs to start holding his marks. He & Kreuzer are shaping up as one of the better ruck combinations in the AFL. Jacobs continues to put pressure on Warnock with good performances in the VFL (from what I've read), but unfortunately Hampson has been missing allegedly due to injury, although the Carlton website continues to not include him on our injury list.

Bower was supposed to be close to playing this week (as he was last week, the week before etc). It would seem the initial mail on here after he did the injury has been spot on, with Bower missing his 4th game this week. Hopefully we will see him back next week when we play the perennial April premiers.

Not sure what the go is with Bower. Listed as a test on the CFC website injury list but that has proved itself to be highly unreliable. I could be way off as I am only guessing but I don't expect to see him back for another 2 at least.

Warnock is OK at the moment, nothing special. May need a rest soon. At 206cm he is a hell of a big thing but needs to use that more to his advantage. Doesn't jump much and is not taking any marks which is a slight concern. Hampson is injured, apparently a hamstring and out for a few more weeks but no mention of it on the official injury list which confuses the situation a little (as I said above, the injury list is unreliable). Jacobs been in the best for the Bullants this season so would be close to a call up I would think.

when Bower went down they said 4 to 6 weeks. Since then it has been smoke and mirrors. People should read between the lines of the PR

Thanks every body!
hopefully it will be a hell of a long time till i miss two weeks of football!. I'm sure my BF contribution was missed greatly:p

We lost to one bottom four side and beat another.

Simpson in career best form has been a highlight in an otherwise dismal year.

At the start of the season had you told me after 4 rounds that we would be sitting at 2-2, I would have taken it - as would many others.

We may not be setting the world on fire but to say it has been a dismal year is a gross over-exaggeration.

White and Lucas made great debuts Azul. Yaz Jeff end Eddie playing together for the 1st time. Kreuzer playing well.

Yes, agreed, just saying Kade's performances have been a standout.

We lost to Essendon. :( Again. :o

I'm just saying to keep things in perspective, we've played 3 of the bottom sides for our only 2 wins of the season. Of course it all starts today...

We lost to the 3rd worst team in the AFL and beat the 2nd worst.. not much else to say.

We have played the 3 worst teams in the AFL so we should be 3 out of 4.
