I've gone every 6 months for a very long time. Rarely any issues but with the cost of dental work, i'd rather catch anything early.

You sound like Kram. My response to his similar message a couple of years back:

Agreed. Had a butcher dislocate my jaw while pulling a molar when I was 21, didn't know about it and his "cure" was to take four panadol every four hours. After three days in bed (nearly got fired from the bank, who ever heard of someone taking three days off for a tooth pull), I was ready to get a bus to go to hospital when I did an uncontrollable massive yawn and it clicked back into place. Bang, all good, it was like nothing had ever happened. Unfortunately it put me off dentists completely. By the time I plucked up the courage to go again twenty years later (and found a brilliant dentist) it was too late.

Update: have only seen him for emergency work in the last ten years as I had zero money for looking after myself, my mouth is completely rooted. May have to dip into super to get it done now.

For North, Collingwood and Port supporters once is probably fine.
Can confirm this is true.

Thought I had a wisdom tooth with chocolate cake stuck in it, turns out it was a hole. Put up with it for two years until the nerves got infected. Wish I’d seen the dentist earlier.

What's a normal amount of times to go to the dentist? I'm 27 and I think I've been once, and I fear that number is too few.

I go twice a year for a check and clean
Seems to have limited the work I’ve needed doing

Think some of it is genetic as the hubby and his mob seem to be always needing work whereas mine, not much at all other than shit that happens as you age

I had wisdom teeth growing at 45 degree angles- ,the bottom ones. One other tooth was damaged from food being trapped between them over time, so in the end I had 5 teeth out under GA.

My top two wisdom are good, if my last remaining bottom one needs to be removed they will have to chip the jawbone as its roots are curled and near nerves.

Mine had to go. It was a last minute check up before I went overseas in 2003. Thank god I did too- cause it was urgent. The top two were ok apparently but I'm like eh, just take em out.

It was an easy procedure with a good recovery and I was on a plane to the states.. 6 days later.

I was very lucky tbh

Dentist when I was a kid did everything except orthodontics and drove a small not new BMW.

Dentists these days seem to want to refer you backwards and forwards for different things. And the one near my old place drove an Audi R8 which he changed for an Aston Martin last year!

I use dark theme for everything. So much easier on my eyes.
Seems like it's just you and me. Didn't realise dark mode was so unpopular

just on wisdom teeth, had my bottom ones removed in june. dentist didn't completely remove all the tooth fragments that i had left over, which have been growing out of my ****ing gums since. i've removed 3 shards of tooth/bone myself

apparently this is quite normal

also had dry socket for a couple of weeks which was very painful and unpleasant
