do kids still use the phrase 'tuning' to refer to chatting someone up?

a perennially single mate of mine used it the other day and I sort of went "s**t, haven't heard that word in 10-15 years"
My brother who is 3 years older than me used it frequently for about 20 years

Okay guys me dumb dumb
Our flight home from Hawaii changed so I need to update our accommodation
The departure date FROM Honolulu - is that in US time? It says 30 Dec, so would that be the 31st in Aus and the 30th there?
Pretty sure all times listed for a flight are shown in the time of the airport (i.e. the departure time will be the time it is in Honolulu, the arrival time will be the time it is in Melbourne when you land)

Thanks. The pricks have changed my flight three times and got me all confused. Now I have to find an additional night's accommodation (at my expense) AND lose the money I'd paid for an airport transfer. Qantas and Jetstar keep blaming each other and I'm losing my mind.

Yes it is. Look for the +1 for extra day, eg:

Oahu 8:15 am Mon 11 Dec - Avalon 11:15 pm Tue 12 Dec (18h, 1 stop)
+1
Jetstar

Not a word I've used too often recently, but definitely in my late teenage years it was a common fixture along with some other interesting slang

It's pissing down here in Adelaide, Thunderbolts and lightning [emoji945] very very frightening me...

Question: Do you think the sound of Thunder has changed?

lol

Feels a lot more extended and lower rumblings underneath main rumbling now.

Reckon when I was little it was more 1 big rumble.

My cats are freaking out.

Sounds a bit Lehrmannesque.
I don’t think it ever had those sorts of connotations - it was fairly gender neutral and wasn’t just a one way thing (two people could be ‘tuning each other’)

I always assumed the analogy was a radio - you’re feeling someone out, trying to dial in on a clear signal

Nobody tunes radios any more so I wondered if that was maybe the reason it died out

I hear ya. Last week where we are there was long continuous thunder for several minutes as opposed to big bellowing thunder claps. I'm sure both happen on occasions though but I'm no Jane Bunn
