I ordered extra data point in my house after it had all been done. They hard to cut holes out everywhere trying to get it to the second floor and the places I wanted. $80 flat per data point.

Oh that sucks.

They had this issue on the block with their kitchens and their splashback. Was like "oh you need to cut holes in your splashback- that'll take an extra 32 days"*

*maybe exaggerating.
Yeah it's kind annoying, particularly cos we told the agent we wanted additional points.

That is not too bad, I know I will need an extra one of those, maybe two.

We will definitely need more powerpoints too.

Being concrete walls though (in some places I assume), may make it tricky/impossible.

Have some sympathy for my aunty- went over to their new house yesterday. They have to cut a massive big hole out of the frigging ceiling (sky light)- cause it turns out their living area is so dark.

Why wouldnt they know this before building the house tho? So stupid.
Our current house is like that. Very little natural light in our hallway and living room. I cbf putting a skylight in though. A nice long mirror would do the trick.

We told the agent we wanted additional points put in.

Emailed him the other week about it. It's too late now he told us.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
Do you have proof you told him? IF you have proof and can see in your contract what the stipulations are in terms of required period of time for changes I'd send him a please explain. Put the pressure on, these people think as soon as you have paid a deposit the sale is done. Make them work for it.

I have an email asking him about them, but his reply is just saying something like "it's too late to get these added now", or something.

I could have sworn though he wrote something down in our contract.

It's not hard to do if you are trained to do it.

People think it's easy until they cut the red and then they're dead. Cost all depends on the job. You say you are moving into an apartment. Is it multi story ? Do you have access to cavities to run cables ? How old are the apartments ? The wiring could be sub standard. I've come across that plenty of times. I always tell them what I need to upgrade before I do the work. It's up to them to agree to it. Some sparkies won't bother and do it under the table but if I'm putting my name on the ticket, I'm ticking all the boxes.

When you ask " Is it easy ?" and "Is it costly ?", that's like asking " How long is a piece of string ?"

Best bet is get four quotes and go with the cheapest.

New block due to be done early next year, 5 levels (one is a penthouse).

OK. I know of someone unemployed 5+ years who lived in a caravan. Would consider. If you like your own space and don't care about luxury and want to save cash for other stuff not a bad get.

I've always said I wouldn't mind a small flat/townhouse, whatever but I'm still a bit unsure about these tiny houses. I think it's the narrowness of them that freaks me out a little- and **** sleeping in a bed so close to the ceiling. Am a bit claustrophobic so that would be an issue. Also how well they can be heated/cooled is another issue + plumbing?

I agree with you tho re. the look of the house, it does look great.

I don't like sleeping on the top bunk either. But as you saw, the bed came down when it was needed.

What townhouses lack, and what this small house has is windows. The more windows you can get into something lie this, the better. Because it brings more light in. Another way to make the place look bigger, is the use of mirrors. That's why a lot of apartment wardrobes now have a mirror finish. Light also bounces off the mirrors to make the room look bigger.

See, if you don't have the light, then the place will feel small. That's the problem with some of the apartments and townhouses now. They are so small and narrow, that there isn't any light coming into it. Architects are more concerned about fitting as many people in as possible, and costing space and light into apartments.
