Battery management is complicated but generally the best thing for the life of any lithium ion battery is to try and keep it in the middle of its charge range as much as possible, while also minimising the number of times you charge it.

Unless I really need a full battery I try and only charge to 80%, and then run it down to 20% before plugging it back in. This is not always practical but most modern devices have smart charging which at least helps avoid overcharging.

If I am not going to use my laptop for a while I will run the battery down to about 40-50% before turning it off.

it is currrently difficult as im using a monitor that connects to laptop via usbc which in turn charges said laptop.

As in, call the hotel? I have been looking on the actual hotel's website if that's what you mean.

I called them direct but these were also smaller towns where there were only 3 or 4 options

I've tried only the one time- called the hotel, they were about $60-$80ish more expensive than the booking.com rate I had + they would not budge.
Was it a big company or chain or smaller one? I rang a holiday inn once and they said they’d match the booking.com rate and threw in breakfast vouchers on top.
Probably depends on company policy and who you get on phone i guess

It was a Grand Chancellor. So big I guess.

Yeah I called - it was the same rate as advertised on their own website. Bloke tried to upsell me to a bloody suite at twice the price!
I think they have contracts with the sites that mean they can't undercut the price on the site.

There's a story on their practices every now and again.

Yeah this is generally what happens to me

They match the online rate but with extras or more booking flexibility

Yes. If you’re able to form a rapport or bond with the person on the phone the chances of securing a good price and or terms is higher.

I reckon it works with Airlines, check skyscanner or whatever but then go incognito and use the cheapests website it usually is a bit cheaper (or at least ive found it to be) same with car hire. Cant say ive ever noticed it with hotels but i also havent really tried it and im not working the phones, if i cant do it online im not doing it.

peternorth What do you make of the great golfing rapprochement overnight?
Hi Goughy, thanks for the question. i am enjoying it. People from the middle east and west coming together for the betterment of golf. It had to happen.

And money.

Is there an app out there that I can add my weekly shopping list to that then scans the weekly catalogs of the 3 main stores and tells me the best place to go for that week?

Ideally I'd like to create my shopping list, it searches the catalogues, it then generates a store by store list for me.

No, but wiselist does give you the cost comparison between Coles and Woolworths.

The app you are looking for is Frugl (it does Coles, Woolworths, Aldi and IGA). I use it to split my list into the items cheapest at each place, then just hit them all on a Saturday morning.

Wiselist only does Coles and Woolworths, but it has the advantage of letting you generate separate online shopping baskets

If they added Aldi to Wiselist I would use it for sure, would be nice to do one trip to Aldi and then get everything else delivered
