I need some help please. My car keys have gone missing.

This is how it went Friday after work: drove home > went inside > in apartment all day Saturday > go to get car key in the arvo (didnt need to actually drive it just wanted something out of the glove box) > no keys. Anywhere.

Q1. im assuming my car auto locks if I didnt actually lock it myself on the Friday? The only conceivable spot the keys could be is in the car- maybe in the glove box. If/when I call out the RACV today, I'm just wondering are they able to re-secure the car if the key isnt in there.

And 2. How much am I looking at roughly to get another key made if the key really is gone.
(Gone where tho, who the **** knows)

I'm honestly going out of my mind here... my house is neat and tidy. Its not like theres a lot of places to look (I've gone over the entire apartment 3 times now)... idk where else it could be except glove box. (I chuck my work lanyard in there everyday when I get home, so maybe the key got mixed up then)

Cars normally only lock themselves if you unlock it but don't get in after 30 seconds or so.

In the ignition? They definitely were not there (am not that thick thankfully)- like i said I was thinking glove box.

And i did google if my make + model would auto lock and it said after 45 seconds it would. So idk.

I didn’t think you had left them in the ignition.

I sometimes just throw mine in the console and it makes a sound if i try and lock it (mine is touch lock), but I’ve never just left them and walked away so I’m interested now as to whether it would automatically lock.

Note to self: make sure spare is on standby when I test

I have a master key for my workplace and the fear I experience when I can’t find or remember where I put them is next level. I have to pay 10% of replacement cost and it ain’t a small amount by any means
