I ditched my wallet about a year ago. Have a phone cover that carries my license. Myki, bank cards, rewards cards etc are all on the phone. If I ever need the medicare card or whatever its at home and I just need to remember to grab it when needed.

I've also habitized a similar thing and effectively solved for "lost-wallet/keys/etc" 99.9% of the time.
It's actually the 0.1% that brought me to this thread today.

Does anyone have good recommendations for men's wallets?

Coming down with the 'flu Friday and was a bit vague which resulted in said wallet going through the washing machine. Was a 15+ year old Oroton, so getting ratty and owed me nothing, but is completely buggered now.

I like a nice wallet, but I think I'm going to try and move away from bifold in back pocket stereotype to help my back. I've got a 4 card billfold from Bellroy (I think) which I like, but I don't think it's quite up to 100% everyday service. I'm thinking an 8 card trifold or similar, but don't really know brands.

Typically what I carry is:
  • Drivers licence (I wish these could be digital in Vic)
  • Medicare card
  • Private health insurance card
  • Everyday expenses debit Visa
  • Vices debit Visa
  • Swipe card for apartment building access
  • Small amount of cash (no coins)
  • Spare "emergency" $50 tucked out of sight.

What's a good wallet that people like?

ETA: now that I've written out the requirements, I'm struck that I might be better served making process changes. Both the debit Visas are in Apple Pay. I just need to retrain myself to pay with phone. Pretty sure I can get digital Medicare and Insurance cards into iOS wallet. So that just leaves licence, prox card and cash, which the billfold can handle. But I'd still want some sort of "card storage device" so they're not just floating loose in a drawer. Nice one too preferably?

Ive got one of these, swear by it (although i also have a card storage bit in my phone now and often just take that)

I love my current wallet, I can fit my house and car keys in it.
You can fit your house in your current wallet!

And room to spare for your car keys.

It must be huge

Yep another one for wallet. Can fit all my cards, cash (yes, cash) and mobile phone in it.

Not keys tho.

They go under the bed. :tearsofjoy:

Mortgage, bills, gym + phone- all done electronically.

Groceries, petrol + extras = cash. I find I'm saving quite a bit this way week to week.

An interstate relo sent my son a card for his 2nd birthday.

2 months late and had a tenner... No idea what hes gonna spend that on.
Maybe not with just $10, but I'd start a long-term, term deposit. I wish my parents had done that for me- or hell even told me about them when I got my first part-time job.

I used cash for groceries the other week. Was the day before payday and expenses account was tapped and couldn't be arsed doing a transfer but had cash on me. Checkout chick's expression looked like I passed her a turd rather than the $100 note I had in my hand! 🤣

We’ve already got one set up that we top up monthly.

I just think sending a $10 note to a 2 year old is a bit bizarre

I have a minimalist wallet. I only carry my licence, 2x cards, and maybe a few notes. If I get any coins, I toss them into the street and watch the homeless dodge traffic.

Buy him $10 of mixed lollies. Which gets you as many lollies as 10c got you when I was a kid.

I wonder if people's nan still put a tenner in their birthday card?

My mum kept putting a $50 in with the Christmas card / next years calendar.

2021 it never arrived, 2022 she missed a number off the address and my guess is the dude down the road bought another rock with it.

What’s the deal with Book Week? I keep seeing on social media kids dressing up as the Matildas, is it like ComicCon where it’s a bit more of a loose interpretation?

I used to bring a footy player's biography and wear a North guernsey lol
