Yes, they do - here in SA at least. My 9 year old daughter brings home a Scholastic book club catalogue once a term.Yeah I don't remember book week either- went to primary school circa late 80s, early 90s.
I remember Book Club tho. Do they still do that??? Buying books every month- that was the best.
Yeah I was at a Catholic school too so I am also wondering if it was more a state school thingI don't even remember book week when I was a kid!
Although, I went to a Catholic school and was taught by Nuns, so maybe they kept it and the dressing up on the down low? Work of the devil and all that?
Make sure you take something to do. The one time I've had to do jury duty I spent 90% of the time just waiting (from memory I took my laptop and played Football Manager)Got summoned for Jury Duty.
I work at a school - I am not getting out of this at all am I?
It's not til between October - December. Spoke to my principal today and it's my busiest time of year so I might be able to defer it. Still not ideal though.Make sure you take something to do. I got summoned about 15 years ago and deferred it then got call up again about 7 years ago. Went and sat in the County Court waiting room all day never got called. You might be lucky and not get called on.
How much do you get paid to do this, do you get paid for the duty and by employer ?
Nothing extra, but you also don't lose out on pay/leave (unless you are a casual employee with no regular roster)How much do you get paid to do this, do you get paid for the duty and by employer ?
Your employer is legally obligated to pay you the difference between your juror payments ($40 per day for the first 6 days, $80 per day thereafter) and what you would reasonably have expected to have earned had you attended work instead of jury service. This includes any penalties, allowances, or loadings you would normally receive.
This obligation exists for the entire duration of your jury service, regardless of its length, and applies no matter the size of the business you work for.
What if you got a juicy case? Not something I'd even remotely be interested in doing. I'd find an excuse

But yeah I'd probably take a book.
medicare card can also be found on the app.I ditched my wallet about a year ago. Have a phone cover that carries my license. Myki, bank cards, rewards cards etc are all on the phone. If I ever need the medicare card or whatever its at home and I just need to remember to grab it when needed.
