Jeez, you guys have some great taste, any of the top fives could easily have been my own. Here's my top 5 currently:
The Big Lebowski - so damn quotable and the dialogue in the bowling alley is some of the best, but that's just like, my opinion, man.
Grizzly Man - arrghh this documentary, is it a black comedy? Makes me laugh anyway, well not so much how it ends
Blue Velvet - ...
Anchorman - saw it at the end of a movie marathon and instantly loved it
Glengarry Glen Ross - great dialogue, beautiful monologue from Alec Baldwin
Killer movies that I've either watched too much and ruined or need some more watches to make the list:
The Watchmen
Pulp Fiction
There Will Be Blood (I drink your milkshake)
Back to the Future II
Full Metal Jacket
Blue Valentine (dreamy Gossling plus Tom Waits reference = sploodge)
Terminator I and II
Old Boy (Korean version or GTFO) also the other Sympathy movies
PeeWee's Big Adventure (don't watch while high, or do, that's up to you, man)
No Country for Old Men
Dawn of the Dead
The Godfather
Goodfellas
On the watchlist - keen on some advice as to whether (based on the above) you think I'll enjoy:
2001 Space Odyssey
Labyrinth
Inland Empire
Casablanca
To Kill a Mockingbird
Amadeus
Citizen Kane
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
Keen on any recommendations on anything pre-1990s, obscure or foreign language, let me know and I might even briefly review it on here if anyone's interested.
