I liked the lullaby version of the song.

Kids always provide the best lessons in emotional control.
Things shift quickly at clubs. A few years ago we were talking about Brockman being the only player with kids and that being a challenge for him. Now we have Barrass, Battle, Frost, Bruest, Hardwick, Impy, Hill all with kids.

Collingwood vs Hawks is shortening as a potential EF. Suns win there last 2 by enough it won't matter if Collingwood comfortably beat Melbourne. They will finish 5th. We lose we finish 8th unless GWS also lose which is unlikely.
Do not mind a EF against the Pies at the MCG at all.

If we can't finish top 4 that's a pretty good fall back option.

Out of all the possible finals matchups the only two I want to avoid like the plague is Gold Coast and GWS at their home decks.

We do not play those two teams well at home at all.

All others I fancy our chances either at home (ie Collingwood at the G) or away (ie Adelaide at Adelaide Oval).

Win Sunday and by my ladder predictor we either finish 4th and will face the crows minus rankine (massive chance to win that) or a home elimination final at the G (I'd be VERY confident).

If we win sunday, keep everyone fit & get Weddle back then confidence will be sky high and can dare to dream. Brisbane is the only one of the real contenders I'm not sure if we can beat on our day - rolling them at the Gabba would dispel that worry.

Lose and we are bottom of the 8, making up the numbers and potentially tricky trip to the GC or GWS. Forget about it.

MASSIVE GAME sunday.

Let's be honest the Suns will smash the Bombers and the Bombers wont want to do us or Collingwood any favours so they will let it happen not that they could probably stop it anyway.
A one chance is for Port Adelaide to show a bit of spirit for Hinkley's last game but without Wines that will be very tough.

For some reason I think that is our best hope because Melbourne although show potential just don't have the forward power and kicking efficiency inside 50 to trouble Collingwood

Would a bulldogs home final be at Marvel or the MCG?

Top 4 final vs anyone, home final vs the pies, or Melb final vs the Bulldogs are great possibilities for us heading into the finals.

Until we beat an interstate side away we are just making up the numbers. Prove that you are good enough hawks.
Sounds harsh but it’s reality at the moment. 5 times over the past 2 seasons (2 in 2024 and 3 in 2025) we’ve been in front at the final break against a finals contending interstate side on their home turf and then given up the lead to lose in all 5.

Need to find a way to lock these ones away.

MCG

Friday night, would be huge if melbourne beat collingwood. They're $3.35 which is not bad at all (melbourne). There's a real chance of an upset here.
One team has something to play for, the other doesn't.
The one that does is a much better team.

I would love Melbourne to win but really don' thtink it will happen

had a look at possible ladder finish based on remaining H/A games

Likely outcome for me

Assumption 1
GC win both remaining games by combined 60+ points

Assumption 2
Collingwood win by 20+

Assumption 3
Hawthorn win by less than 20

If WB win, would result in a Hawthorn (5th) v WB (8th)
If Fremantle win, would result in a Hawthorn (5th) v Brisbane (8th)

However, also a possibility

If Haw win is 10+ points more than Collingwood win and
GC combined winning margin is
60 points or less, Haw finish 3rd
70+ points points, Haw finish 4th

I’m going the other way.

Melbourne were putrid on the weekend. And Collingwood were much better, they should have won that game in Adelaide.

Pies by 30 plus.
Pies have just a 6 day break after an exhausting slog in the wet against the crows interstate, and are in poor form.

This month melbourne only lost to the dogs by a goal, and smashed the eagles by 83.

Both teams have lost 4 out of their last 5 games

Not confident against the Dogs. I’m probably one out here, but it just feels like a match up that could be a sweet revenge for last year.

Don’t be fooled. The Dees aren’t that bad. I was genuinely concerned going into last week, and they still won a lot of vital stats. The Dees almost defeated the Dogs last week and they are in much better nick than the Pies.

Not saying they will knock them off, but like last week, Kings Birthday and also our early season game, they are definitely capable IMO.

Fourth is what I’m hoping for.. The first game will be in Adelaide. If we can win that game we stay in Melbourne. If we don’t win, we’ll fall into the Geelong side of the draw and also stay in Melbourne.

Actually a pretty good end to the season with lots still in the air.

In the scenario where we beat Brisbane but finish fifth (GC 3rd and Coll 4th on percentage), there’s still a world where we don’t leave the MCG the entire finals - EF vs WBD, SF vs COLL, PF vs Cats, GF vs Crows (minus Rankine 😂).

Essentially Brisbane is a must win game for us to have a shot at the flag. Very tough if we finish 7th or 8th. Will almost certainly have one, perhaps two interstate sudden death finals.

If all the favourites win, we’ll finish 8th, the Pies 5th and the Suns 4th.

In effect it means we’d get the Pies in an EF, the Suns away in the SF and the Cats in the PF. I would absolutely back us in against the Suns in a cut throat final…even if it was in Qld. My only concern with that scenario is that if we can’t beat a decimated Lions this week I can’t see us competing with them in a final with all their stars back…

Of course we’d have a good crack but objectively that’s a tough match up for us. We would be 0-4 vs top sides interstate going into that clash, and have not beaten GC away since 2014

I agree — that’s the caveat, if we are serious we really need to win on Sunday. That said it’s a pretty soft run from eight…

The Suns really haven’t shot the lights out in recent weeks (Lions game aside)

Hoping the dewy conditions Sun night in Brisbane will prep us for any possible away final against Gold Coast – which is our worst case scenario imo
