Bailey finally got this right! To me, Wona and Bennell are the perfect substitutes. They should be rotated each week from now on. Both haven't had huge impacts this year so far. Both tend to go missing in large chunks of the game.

But, as a sub, they potentially only play limited time where they can have maximum impact. Wona although not our best player on Sunday, looked dangerous. And this is what you want from your sub. An impact player who can kick goals and run through the middle. I think Wona and Bennell are perfect for the role(while it still exists).

In theory I agree with your thoughts, but Wonna was subbed on at about the 5 minute mark yesterday. He played almost a full game, and was good for most of the day from what I remember.

I think Wona was a good choice of sub, but yesterday was hardly the day for it to be proved seeing as he was on the field before the 20 minute mark of the 1st.

Wona's fitness is just not up to it in terms of being part of the midfield rotation, even in small infrequent bursts, & smaller forwards who can't go through the middle are becoming more rare & can be liabilities for a team if injuries strike. I'd be happy for Wona to be our sub every week, he can come on fresh & thrash himself in the middle, but should still be able to run out a game if it's only a half or less of swapping between mid & forward.

That way he'll build up to more & more time in the middle and hopefully turn into a genuine part of our forward midfield rotation.

I think if it was a close one and he was subbed on late, and Wonna played exactly the same he would have been brilliant. Forward pressure was awesome yesterday, as was his aerobic effort. Used the ball well.
