If Sicily was off to Carl, surely Clarko wouldn't be slowly turning him into an important feature of the backline?

I've also heard this from several sources - dislike.Sicily is off to Carlton, part of a agreement with those late trade swaps that finally helped us get O'Meara.

Next stop AFL hall of fameBurgoyne ain't going anywhere.

Dislike very much if true, but I seriously doubt that it would be.
The Hawk-phobic media made a fuss about us getting a freebie but consider the FACTS.
Last year was considered a good draft pool.
This year is considered a weak draft pool.
The GWS pick for this season was always expected to be VERY late in the second round. By the time compo picks are added, the GWS pick could easily be about #40.
Therefore - Pick 48 last year was probably equal to pick 40-ish this season.
Carlton had a choice of using pick 48 in a good draft last year, or waiting a year to have pick 40 in a weak draft. It was a no-brainer for them.
We gave Carlton two later picks as a "thanks" for helping us satisfy GC, but Carlton were not doing us a favour - they were securing themselves a good deal.
So any talk of us owing them some massive favour seems highly unlikely to me. If a player was supposed to be part of the deal, why wasn't he included in the deal last season?
The alleged rumour makes zero sense to me.

Wasnt sure where to post but list mgt thread seemed right. They can f*** right off
Carlton do not possess a second round draft pick in the upcoming draft. And this nonsense about Sicily going to Carlton originated from last year's trading period when 2 separate things happened. The first was Carlton inquired about a possible trade for Sicily, which was obviously rejected. And secondly some days later we happened to trade draft picks with Carlton which may or may not have marginally favoured us. Someone has decided to link the two together and come up with a juicy if somewhat ridiculous rumour.Would you accept a second round pick for him?
Would you accept a second round pick for him?

25 solid players going forward next year which means we should be competing for finals, generally you need 30+ solid players in your squad for top 4 and challenging for premierships
i like Howe and O'Brien, for me they are close to being regulars in the team.
regulars
fringe or up-and-coming
Spot on - thought he did, but hasn't.Did I miss something? When did Cyril have a kid?
You got me excited, had my fingers crossed it was a boy hahaSpot on - thought he did, but hasn't.
yeah the only one i am not 100% convinced about is Heatherley. Otherwise it's looks pretty solid.List management, time for me to get into the details of the Hawks!
Retirees/Delistings: Hodge, Gibson will both retire. Fitzy will join Surman in giving up on the game, due to concussions. Teia Miles is a likely delisting and he'll probably be joined in that by Willsmore. How many players do we have to turn over a year? Put a lock on Burgers going on another year as we need that experience and he can perform any role.
Trades: Common call as of late, but I can see Puopolo going to Brisbane for a decent pick. Questions will definitely be asked of a few of our other players; expect external pressure on Stratton, and Schoenmakers will get a lot of interest as a free agent if he maintains this form. Hopefully enough that if he does move on, we net a decent compo.
Targets: Midfield depth. Don't be surprised if we go after a few smaller fish from clubs like St Kilda who have plenty of players to rotate through that area - or out of favour players from clubs like Melbourne. Jack Trengove anyone? As for big fish I'm expecting the Hawks will go hard at Martin, Kelly and Lever - in that order. Whether or not we get one or none, they will be pursued.
In terms of a realistic 2017 "First 22" based on players we already have listed - I can see this:
FB: Hardwick, Brand, Heatherly
HB: Birchall, Frawley, Burton
C: Hartung, Roughead, Smith
HF: Burgoyne, O'Brien, Henderson
FF: Rioli, Gunston, Breust
Foll: McEvoy, Mitchell, O'Meara
Int: Shiels, Sicily, O'Rourke, Ceglar
Obviously that last ruck position depends on team balance. McEvoy has shown a lot as the team's one true ruck with the occasional chop out from Rough or O'Brien; in that instance Ceglar could be interchanged for Lovell, potentially Cousins or Morrison (I've got a good feeling about that kid).
I have a feeling there will a fair bit of turnover. I also note that arguably all of cousins, glass, hanrahan and potentially Nash may be upgraded to senior list (are list sizes changing?).
My guess on outs:
Retirees: Hodge, gibbo, Fitz (rookie)
Delisted: Miles, willsmore
Potential under pressure: JOR, heatherly, Stewart
Potential trades: pop, doc, WX, shoey (although need him for height) + a bigger name if we look to trade agggressively
