The players we could have drafted in 2013 if we didn't go for Hartung or Garlett
Zach Merrett -2017 All Australian- star
Lewis Taylor - questionable
Rory Lobb
Toby Nankervis
Tom Barrass
Aliir Aliir- lol
Ben Brown-
Orazio Fantasia
Jayden Hunt

Is this right?

Main list
ins - Impey, Glass and three draft picks

Glass is staying on the rookie list with Nash I gather.

I hate this time of year because I have hopes for everyone who gets picked up by Hawthorn to make it as a long term player.

Hartung will get picked up by someone I expect.

All the best to Kade Stewart, there is something there to work with if another club is willing to take a punt. With Poppy and Duryea sticking around and Miles seemingly in front of him, opportunities were likely to be limited.

Willsmore has a massive left foot and that's about it , but you can also say Sandilands' chief asset is being tall.
If you just wanted a solid footy player with nous any of Mirra, Moore or Hams from Box Hill would be a better selections.

JOR probably on his last chance.

Heatherley provides some cover as a tall in defence. When someone gets injured during a game we can throw Burgoyne or TOB down there. Outside of the regular 22 we have Nash who is still raw. Who else - Shoey ?

Club has already said they will remain on the rookie list and be upgraded this time next year.

We will be using our 1st 3 picks at the draft and that is it. Wrighty said it himself.
We also committed to picking up Willsmore in the rookie draft.

Simply put;

We are only gonna have 38 players on our senior list to reduce the salary cap in 2018 and maximise it in 2019 (hopefully).

Straight out you'd take Hartung over Willsmore. But another club would have offered Billy a deal we didn't want to match

I’m surprised hartung has been delisted over Willsmore. Unless Dallas has a contract for next year?

Happy to see JOR get another deal

Weren't we under the cap this year? I didn't think you could do it two years running.

There are way around it though. For example we might pay 105% in 2018 but front end deals.

That way in 2019 it gives us flexibility to back end a deal or two.

Saving salary was a mechanism list managers used long before the rule of 95% year 1 and 105% year two came in. The rule just allows to a certain extent a little more flexibility

Are any of our academy players outside midfielders? The only thing that concerns me about Hartung going is our complete lack of depth at that position. Makes me wonder if we have a plan in store.
Hopefully it sounds the end of our obsession with having speed on both sides of the ground in the traditional sense, having a player that can win his own ball would be an upgrade. When the backline look up and there is no run on offer a kick down the line to a player that will you a contest under any conditions would be an option.

I tend to agree with this.
Running in straight lines he was great, but decision making was not his thing.
I hope he does better somewhere else.
Not sure I'd even rate Hartung as elite at running in straight lines. We've all seen him be caught from behind on plenty of occasions, often as he pauses for an eternity to make a decision. His endurance was fantastic, I'll give him that.

I guess Clarko plans to play Smith on one wing and Henderson or Impey on the other.

I got bitten a couple of times when suggesting Impey might play on the wing - main issue was apparently his endurance not being where it would need to be despite his speed.

So what? We won a premiership with Gilham/Bailey/Doc/Spangher/Simpkin etc etc. Everyone has a role to play, I'm simply not unequivocally biased like some.

Besides Doc actually being a very solid back pocket in 2015 and Bailey being a first rounder and a good ruck when not injured, was it your intent to prove my point?

ZZZZzzzzzzzzz

We could have also drafted some other spud instead of Ryan Burton at pick 19. You can't get them all right.

So our pedestrian slow side just became snail like, even more mind boggling than the delisting of Billy is the fact we have committed to re-drafting Dallas? Is this the new Hawthorn way?

We lack speed so we delist a top 20 odd guy with elite speed and keep a slow, borderline useless list clogger who's top speed is turtle like?

I'm confused
