PC The Witcher 2

Okay, I have made my mind up, I'm going to replay the first Witcher (only finished half of it the first time) and then play the Witcher 2.

I'm going to play using a 360 controller though so I can lie in bed whilst playing it on the tv though :)

Good job:thumbsu: First one was a great game, plus as a bonus you can load your Witcher 1 saves into your Witcher 2 game, allowing you to use previously acquired weapons.

Also the choices you made in your Witcher 1 save, affect the story in Witcher 2.

Oh really? Then it's a must!

I am a huge Mass Effect fan and loved how your ME 1 save game affected ME 2. Is the Witcher at the same level? (no spoilers please).

Never played ME1 or 2 (have them on my PC though, might get around to playing them) so I can't really comment on that.

Gop, one of the developers put it best.

"The most important thing is the storyline--the most important choices you've made will be reflected in The Witcher 2. People will behave differently or places will remind you of what you've done," Gop continued.

Adds a very nice touch to the game. Even random NPC's will put in a quirp about your past antics, so it adds a nice flow to the game and creates that sense of immersion.

"Gop listed Mass Effect and Batman: Arkham Asylum as influences on The Witcher 2's creation. But the impact of Mass Effect runs deeper than save file transfers. The Witcher 2 will feature a fresher, more filmic dialogue system reminiscent of Mass Effect's uncluttered, cinematic, and peppier system."

Guess its probably similar way they did it:thumbsu:

Cheers for that.

Mass Effect is definitely the best game ever in terms of a cinematic experience. The Witcher one wasn't bad in this aspect but is definitely a slower paced game (more traditional RPG than ME) so that makes the cinematic aspect a little more difficult to create.

Yeh definately will get around playing it! ME's visuals look great, and I do agree that some parts of Witcher were a bit slow (gathering, alchemy, etc) but I guess it adds to the lore and backstory. Not a huge fan of SCI-FI in particular but ME has had some great feedback so its on my must play list.

Enjoy Witcher 1 while you play it mate. Just wait till you hit Witcher 2. The difficulty is much, MUCH harder. Hard on Witcher 1 feels like Normal on Witcher 2. Witcher 2's difficulty can be pretty ballbreaking sometimes, so make sure you save often :p

Also an Insane mode, for the truly crazy. Deleting your save file once you die, and being harder in difficulty then hard.

That's nuts. I really CD Projekt. They seem to really want to cater for gamers. Sure, only a couple of people will play this insane mode but they will be pretty hardcore gamers who are often forgotten about in this homogenized gaming industry.

The effect is more subtle. For example, NPC's will talk about deeds you accomplished during W1 in the background where as if you didn't have the save, they wouldn't. In another part of the game, if you sided with a certain group in Witcher 1, the option opens up to talk to a bunch of soldiers and they let you through instead of having to fight them (or take another route).

It's little things like that as opposed to 'this person died in ME1, therefore they are dead in ME2' etc

Yeh this.

Will try and give you an example that doesn't really contain any spoilers. (Will white it out just in case)

With the Witcher Save - Soldier might say "Heard you dealt with Salamandra" or something along them lines.

Without it, it would just be the default such as "cheer up Witcher".

Yeah but i'm only a console gamer. The best I can hope for is 360 or PS3.

Oh in that case, I think they are currently producing it for the 360 but not the PS3(?). Will probably come out at a later date.:thumbsu:

i just finished downloading this game via steam, then i heard that i need to dl a couple patches or some shit that are like 9gb.. is this true?

My new computer with a ASUS GTX 570 direct CUII can play this on ultra at around 50fps with Uber Sampling off, drops down to around 20 with it on. On or Off this game is visually stunning.

Need a 590 or SLi/ Xfire to play with uber on while retaining a decent frame rate.

Question for anyone who has the PC version: Is it possible to play the game with a keyboard, or would you really need a gamepad?

Keyboard friendly mate:thumbsu:
