Without their "controversial years" West Coast would only have one thing to play for over each season over the last 14 years or so ... To try and beat Freo in the derby. That is their GF in effect.

Unfortunately they have again lost their GF which is something like 11 of last 12 against Freo in all competitions. Bless their souls ..

Hey sprout when you actually make it to the last day in september. You should be mad that your team cant raise the effort to beat the other yeams in the league as well. Until you stop settling for mediocrascy then you will always under achive.

I'm coming off a night on the piss here, so I accept I may be wrong, but

2009 - 1 win freo, 0 wins west coast
2008 - 2 wins freo, 0 wins west coast
2007 - 1 win freo, 1 win west coast
2006 - 2 wins freo, 0 wins west coast

Now that's 6 out of 7 by my count, which i accept means you have the wood over us, but since we won both games in 2005 I'm wondering where the other 5 wins in 4 seasons came from.

Oh, and if you want to play the derby is our GF over the last 14 years or so card, we are in front 18 - 11.

If we include all out-of-season games it's actually 10 out of the last 11.

But it's always sad when a mod falls for a basic troll hook, line and sinker! (and yes I am well and truly drunk at this stage after getting pretty much all of Deception Bay behind the purple and whites this afternoon [and even changing a few hardened NRL boys notions on AFL after seeing the Dockers 'swarm like paranahs to take a c*** down'] so don't play the grog angle ;).

It was however a really great game of footy and had of your mob made the most of your chances you would've won and by quite some margin! But when the game was there to be won we stood up and took charge the Eagles just didn't....just like 10 of the past 11 games between us ;)

(2006 Pre
2 round games,
challenge cup
2007 pre
Round 18 2007
2008 pre
2 round games
Today)

Probably one I'm forgetting but I just won poker and am heavily under the influence so my apathy towards my ignorance of the other win iscah is talking about knows few bounds.

Troll or not - 10 out of 11 is not 11 out of 12.

And including charity matches in the "count" only reinforces the over-emphasis you lot place on derbies.

Heya KS, How ya doin ;)

C'mon .. seriously, you must be messing. Are you really taking tthe wambat west coast view on a derby....???

It's more of a statistical basis to overcome the (almost) prehistoric notion that Fremantle can't play derbies. The fact that you're pawning the 'overimportance' of derbies angle onto us tends to point towards an excuse angle to why you haven't won a game against us since 2007 (or that you CLEARLY don't put enough importance into one of the AFL's biggest home and away games and disrespecting the game, the team's and the records that have been earned in previous derbies).

That and we do tend to enjoy a week's break from media scrutiny every once in a while. We can take it but it's nice to go a week without the headline 'panic stations at Fremantle'.

Do not dellude yourself into believing that Freo places too much importance on derbies because every team plays to win every week...but there's a natural urge in EVERY sport to win against the local team. If nothing else but to give their own supports something to smile about during a dark trek

I don't take the wambat view on anything.

Now come on over to the Eagles board so I can card your sorry metalhead;)

I have no trouble with the fact that Freo rise for derbies and am on record elsewhere that I wish we did the same, but if you are going to use facts they should be correct. Further, by including non H&A derbies as evidence only reinforces the stereotype that Freo have an unhealthy obsession with derbies when the truth is that based on H&A results in recent times you do have a distinct advantage anyway - no need to cheapen it by using peripheral games as aprt of the argument.

Keys... you need to check which board you are posting on before you hit submit.

Also, you can't bring up unhealthy obsession on our behalf, when the head to head is still way in favour of your team.

It's just illogical.

For starters it's good to see you're at the 'professor' drunk stage haha. Secondly I can can agree with why that's a widely accepted inference on the situation when really it's more to do with a state of shock from older supporters that we could ever hold such a record in comparison to some of the more dimmer days. It's an achievement to build on and a game to base a season off (to tackle as hard as, to work as well as). The 'peripheral games' are a 'non-pressure building block in which both sides are throwing their crap against the wall and seeing what sticks so why not take some pride in the performance. Cheapened? That's a purely subjective analysis of it and is using a grim assessment to qualify a broad generilisation (aka weekly media columns)

Fact is you guys own us atm, and Worsfold has not beaten Harvey head to head - by using pre-season games in the head to head result, and then still getting that wrong albeit marginally cheapens what would remains a more than valid point that our club needs to redress.

Because Masten is such a gun.

No matter how you look at it..

Palmer with ****ed knee out for the season is still>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Masten.

Delist at end of season, bring in Tom "Terry Wallace Tan" Swift instead.

Seriously Keyser - how the ***** can Swift not get a game?

I'm hoping we are just trying to bring him on slowly and not throw him in too early.

Maybe this week he'll get a run.

[and even changing a few hardened NRL boys notions on AFL after seeing the Dockers 'swarm like paranahs to take a c*** down']

bwahahaha..... that's the bit I like. I grew up in a rugby family (granted it was union - real rugby - and not league)... so I know the significance of this comment. :D

Nice one Kapow!!! :D :D

Say hi to your mum for me. :thumbsu: Is she going down to carrara with you this w/e? Can you convince her to wear a purple scarf at least? ;)

Our Grand Final? I think you'll find the Western Australian public at large considers the derby Freo's Grand Final.
