A father standing by his son. You'd (hopefully) do the same.
I don’t see much benefit in the statement , assume it was a thought to give the media what they want to try to have some privacy.

That it wasn't him and he didn't do itWhat was his defense?
I have no dog in this fight couldn't care less however more often gets it wrongGets it right most of the time, particularly a jury trial
HowBut it does now.
To think he has the afl media training and still said it...After 12 people have deliberated and came All to the same conclusion. I am very surprised he would make that statement to the media. Play a straight bat and if you think he is innocent let it play out without further comment. Jury trails very difficult to appeal.

Yeah nah if my son was convicted of rape I wouldn’t come out publicly and proclaim his innocence. Let it play out further in the courts if you want without comment. The human element you reference in this is the victim, but not sure that’s your viewYou're either incapable of seeing, or simply ignoring the human element of this.

sounds horrendous.MAP is considered one of the worst places to be in terms of prison conditions, more restrictions than remand centre and an actual prison unit. Plus it can be extremely volatile given the turnover of people.
He didn't say anything about the victim, only that his son maintains his innocence. You can support your son without labelling the victim a liar.
I couldn't see in the article whether his mate admitted it was actually him, or if he denied it?That it wasn't him and he didn't do it

Can you sack someone if their child has been convicted of a crime? It’s a shocking shocking look.
I get you defend your kids, but surely there is a point in time when you can no longer ? Surely that time is now.
You can't have it both ways Against. Suppression orders last week but against Silvagni's platform, this weekI know.
What I find interesting is Silvagni is the one getting a platform here.
I know he's high profile and so he brings in views to the news etc but that's kind of the problem too.
A simple “we would ask for privacy and will make no comment at this stage”You can support your son without labelling the victim a liar.

Would have been fine.
So the whole family should be burned at the stakeA lotta Saint Kilda fans sticking up for the rapist's family.
Poor.
His mate pretty much told Tom to GAGF when Tom asked him to lie and say his uber was cancelled and that he came back to the house.I couldn't see in the article whether his mate admitted it was actually him, or if he denied it?
So the whole family should be burned at the stake
I don’t get why he just didn’t t own up to his actions and take responsibility.
The only hope for him is if the judge made a mistake with his jury directions like the recent Greg Lynn trial. After 12 people have deliberated and came All to the same conclusion. I am very surprised he would make that statement to the media. Play a straight bat and if you think he is innocent let it play out without further comment. Jury trails very difficult to appeal.
What do you mean? You can't have it both ways Against. Suppression orders last week but against Silvagni's platform, this week
Nobody is sticking up for Tom, but most (sane) people can see that this isn't a club issue, nor is his father wrong for standing by his son.A lotta Saint Kilda fans sticking up for the rapist's family.
Poor.
Sorry, I can’t find Ray Jay’s post.sounds horrendous
