my team's young player X >>>> all your teams young players put together!

houlihan was drafted in 2006, debuted last year and is from victoria.

i thought swift didnt go too badly on the weekend, he's hardly AFL ready. in an ideal situation we'd have him debuting around the end of next year, but since we're in this shitty period we might as well fast track him.

made heaps of errors but at least he showed some dash and took a few guys on.

we might as well play him for the rest of the season, what is there to lose?

What about Naitanui beating Sandilands in the ruck couple of times?

Or what about Masten beating Hill + McPharlin in a contest?

Does that mean Naita >>> Sandilands and Masten >>>> Hill + McPharlin

but Thornton >>> Masten + Naita + Hill + McPharlin

lol :D i think we can all agree that both teams have good young players, we will know in about three years who recruited better, im stoked with our kids, im sure your stoked with yours... i dont see any JON's in either side to be honest

Not hard to beat McPharlin when he isn't playing.

In any case, bashed crab >>>>>>>>>>>> Mcpharlin. :thumbsu:

FWIW, Hill averages more contested possessions and clearances this season than Masten, despite Masten having more overall possessions and about 10 kilos on Hill. Who's the outside receiver and the inside mid there?

Since when?

Listed as-
Masten 180cm 74kg
Hill 182cm 72kg

I'll start talking about Tom Swift again in a Tom Swift thread.

Will be a gun and better than all of Freo's young players combined.

Swift is at least finding the ball

You can see every time he gets the ball he looks rushed, his body is just not conditioned to the higher level competition. He needs time to just slow down and play his natural inside style.

Just need to look at the improvement of Masten in the second half of this year, Scooter playing very well early this year etc.

Swift has a very unique skill set - 191cm inside midfielder with good pace and extremely clean hands. I will be very patient with him.

Instead of playing him off the half-back, we should give him a game at half-forward. I think he would do well and might even kick a couple of goals. Well its better than what Masten provides as a small forward.:p

heard a lot of hype on swift before the draft

will be interesting to see how he comes on

watching him this year he seems to have trouble with basic skills such as bouncing, handballing, kicking

Probably nerves. Been smashing up WAFL with quite a few BOG's.

Also being played back alot. If you saw the derby, he actually looked pretty good. Started taking players on and although it didn't work every time, was nice to see him try.

Upped his game time to 70% when hes been playing 50's in his other 4 games. Despite butchering it, think his disposal efficiency was 78%.

I agree about getting through the year with his knees in tact. Will be a lot better for it after a pre-season next year and playing from the start.

nic nat is a ruckman, since when was he supposed to come into the AFL and average 20 touches?

Im not worried about Naits, hes a ruckmen. Sandilands was well to say the least absolute rubbish when he started, Naitanui has done fine and probably needs more a good preseason running coming of his knee injury.

All Australian in the making.

Love the way he backs himself in. Tried to do it last week too but it didn't quite come off, today he got it right.
