Talk of justin sherman leaving whats everyones thoughts? and what would you want?

Don't think he'll leave because of his heavily back-ended contract (if true), but possibly someone like a Matt Campbell...

How desperate is your cap situation?

Not bad enough that the club will be looking to offload key young players. It was reported a few weeks ago that tying up our youth was our first priority. With Banfield signing last week, all our young guns are secured.

Mitch mightn't have torn it upin 2010 like he did in 09 but after letting Henderson go... Mitch's value to the Lions has gone up if anything.

Clark still has that versatility about him. If Bart or Broc get up to speed or charmo is fit, we don't need Clark in the ruck. He could play a KF if needed. No way we would let him go.

is he contracted & if so how long !!

clarke is a huge talent and i can see very big dollars being thrown his way
can brisbane really afford to have another player on $700k

Xavier Clarke is contracted.

So is Mitch Clark for that matter.

Move on.

A lot of people on the Swans board seem interested in Sherman. Our first-round draft pick would be overpaying for him but i'd think our second-round would be underpaying. So maybe more a Pick 21 for Sherman + your 2nd round pick.
What would you say Sherman's strengths and weaknesses are which has caused him to be more on the outer of recent times?

He has probably been played out of position, seemed to not go hard for the ball, and his disposals were sub par.

I would expect we are very unlikely to trade Sherman away to move up 10 spots to an early 20s pick.

Sherman has pace which is very much needed but his skills are something which let him down a lot this year. He also did not seem to have the running power that he had last year and was not getting open or moving to smart places to receive. He is very much a confidence player and his confidence was down this year and his game went down the toilet with it. Still there is talent there and if there is the big emphasis on skills which is the rumour I think he could bounce back very well next year.

I can't see us letting him go. Rischa, Brennan and Johnstone should clear enough space under the cap.

Probably not worth trading Sherman if we are losing Brennan. I suspect Drummond will stay which is a positive. Can't see the Lions trading at all unless an exceptional offer is thrown at someone on our roster.

I actually quite rate Sherman.

When we are flying (like the first four rounds this year), he was a big part of that, kicked some great goals and looked a $1,000,000.

Seems to be the kind of player who in the right team, at the right time, could be the icing on the cake and could prove a great pick up (yep, someone like Sydney or St Kilda could easily be a good fit...).

Probably why he is undervalued here as he perhaps doesn't fit as much what we need right now (if that all makes sense)....

If Sydney are willing to pay his contract i'd take it.

Reported at a 2 yr $800k contract heavily back ended.

If you want a club to take over that size contract a 2nd round pick is paying too much.

You could get a 2nd rounder if the Lions continued to pay $100k pa for 2 years under their cap.

Or you could take a later pick and get 100% cap relief.

Doubt you will get both a lowish pick and a club taking over that contract sum.

proves that he really is a front runner

as i said on the st kilda board he would fit in very well there playing in a successful team, they need pace and he would be good there because they are good

Agree,

Doesn't mean he can't still be a valuable player though....to simply write him off as many seem to have done isn't right IMHO....

On the main board a little heard but likely well informed possible Octogenarian popped up to imply he's requested a trade (if I've interpreted her post and subsequent emoticons correctly- may have just been teasing the thread)
She is close to Shermo I think, seems to know whats going on with him.
By the way not all grannys are really old Nicky:)
