IMO Pitt has trained well, the Crichton call is just a confidence boost from Lyon.
Like Yakka Man has mentioned recently, JC needs to work on his tank and even add a few more kegs. He does move very well in tight inside drills, with silky handballs but that's all I have noticed... He has a bit of mongrel and that is probably what Ross is taking fancy to (e.g. Mello and Ballas)

Ballantyne could be anything in the midfield.

If Ballantyne had the burst of Stephen Hill, oh wait.
If Ballantyne had the furious attack on the ball like DeBoer, oh wait.

As long as Ballantyne doesn't have the hamstrings of Cyril Rioli, he could burst onto - then right through the scene.

We need a flashy, explosive midfielder who can pull miracles out of his backside, while polishing his brownlow, for us to have a shake at the premiership.

You didn't really constructively address anything I said.

I addressed the only evidence in your post that you used to back your argument. His flashes of brilliance you refer to is very vague. Either way the flashes of brilliance he has shown doesn't prove he will be a no. 1 player of the comp. for starters Franklin is only 24 and only just hitting his prime. He is just one of a number of players better than NicNat.

I remember when we drafted ballas and reading some comments from Chris Waterman, he confidently spruiked that ballas could easily move into the midfield later in his career. It should be interesting to see if ballas body can withstand the rigors of playing in the midfield.

Calm down.

His tapwork is unparalleled and once the ball hits the deck he offers more in the way of clearance work than any other ruckman by far. The latter quality is clear and I don't think the former is all that farfetched.

Take the level he plays at when he has one of his 'flashes' of brilliance and dominates a game for the best part of a quarter. If he could play to that level consistently, he'd be the best player in the game.

Pendlebury expressed a similar opinion after the Collingwood final.

your dillusional. even at his best there is no way NN will ever be the best player in the comp. he is good, but has never been and will never be that good

When did Ballas get these hamstring problems, thought he had trouble with his feet and did specialised running training over the break to change his running style and fix the problem.

He missed games in 2011 because of hamstring problems.

yep, pretty sure he missed some time in 2010 with a hamstring as well. ive heard he has a similar problem to rioli, in that having such small legs and being so quick, he overstrides and does damage that way.... how true that is im not sure. if there is any chance of us making top 8 next year, we need to have balla playing 20-25 games

Is 5 minutes the "best part of a quarter"?

I never said he will be the number one player in the league. I just said that the level he reaches when he's at his very best would see him be the best if he could play to it consistently.

Naturally, it's far from certain that he'll ever reach proper consistency, but I was just trying to illustrate what a tantalising prospect he is and thus why it's an absurd claim, when coupled with the respective value of each players positions to a side, for one to say they'd choose Ballantyne over him.

and i believe stephen hill or nat fyfe at their best, are better than NN at his best... its all a matter of opinion

Your right, been trying to erase 011 from the memory, was working perfectly till you just reminded me ,bastard:D

Fine, but it doesn't change my original point, which was that it's ridiculous to have Ballantyne higher as a prospect.

You had a point??? I thought you were recruiting for the NicNat fan club on the Dockers Board.

Be honest, look at his stats and say to yourself "When was the last time that he played a game that was the full 4 quarters?" The answer is quite simply never.

Look at Dane Swan. Even when he is having a bad game he is still racking up the stats, kicking goals and making the play. He is consistent and delivers almost every week. Sandilands (when not injured) is the most influential ruckman in the league to suggest that NicNat is better is just pure delusion.

NicNat is young. Let the guy develop, pretty soon he will be the starting ruckman and then lets see how good he is when playing the full game. Not these cameos that he is famous for.

Does ONE Brownlow vote for the 2011 Season give you an indication of exactly where he is in terms of his consistency over 4 quarters? It should. Sandi missed half the season through injury and still did better. So did my buddy Kepler and he STILL polled better than NicNat.

Thank you for your contribution. Goodbye.:D:thumbsu:
