Wonder if this will get any attention

Nope

Umps can touch players but players get crucified for even brushing up against against an ump.

I still remember when Panell bum tapped stringer. Imagine if a player did that to an ump.

Umpires get on their hands and knees all the time

Absolutely pathetic. How players can kick the ball off the ground to gain territory in terrible conditions and the umpire is calling it deliberate....what a joke.

It was that same gimp ump that paid nearly all of them - absolute muppet
Yep Donlon paid 1 ridiculous deliberate against us and then paid everything lmao

I had no problem , he was consistent, if you’re gonna do it, do it for both teams

It was a farce. No feel for the game. Madr 1 bad decision and turned it into 4 lol. Meanwhile the other 2 umps were lenient in the conditions meaning it was inconsistent.

Consistency is all we ask as supporters but so far the only thing that is consistent is the poor quality of the umpiring. I know Hardwick diplomatically says it's a hard job but we all have hard jobs and if we don't perform we get booted.

Just feel that umpires are a too protected species and no one can be critical of them without fear of retribution. The interpretation of the rules is just so varied hence players and supporters are frustrated week to week when these interpretations change.

Think the umpiring department need to be more transparent in relation to umpiring reviews so that that clubs are more aware of tweaks to interpretations rather than feeling the brunt the next week or in some cases the same weekend after some contentious decisions in a previous game.

Not sure if people saw the Swans Pies game. But swans up by a few late in the game, Brown gets the ball well inside the square, and explodes towards the forward line. I watch him run 10, then 15 and approaching the 50m line, he's gotta kick it now, no.. on he goes, wow that's now 20m ... waiting for the whistle...too far.... on he goes well inside 50 now... he's still running.... WTF is going on.... 26 metres!!!!! Goal... umpires dont decide games... not much anyway.... or never if you ask the AFL.

Watched it live and just watched it again now. No problem with it at all. Seen worse allowed.

Congrats to Shane McInerney on breaking the all time record of AFL senior games umpired.

Can't in all honesty proclaim him an umpire I look forward to doing a Tiger's game, but respect where respect is due - that is a lot of games. Well done Shane:beercheers:

"UMPIRE Shane McInerney will break the all-time record for the most senior games officiated in VFL/AFL history when he takes to the field at Marvel Stadium on Saturday night.

The Western Bulldogs and Geelong clash will be the 496th match McInerney has officiated as a senior AFL umpire, surpassing the previous record of 495 set by Hayden Kennedy in 2011 (Kennedy is now the AFL umpires' head coach).

McInerney is passionate about his role, but happy to fly under the radar by contrast to fellow official 'Razor' Ray Chamberlain."
