Had enough ball in good places to win it but instincts are really poor. Not direct enough play and our footskills aren’t good enough to use the ball short as much as we do.

Don’t like our structures at all. Far too reliant on running the ball out of the back half which leaves us exposed on turnover. They weren’t on at all and we generated much more genuine forward craft scores but ultimately gave them far too many easy ones out the back. They would have 4 goals where they ran goal side of their defenders to our none.

Our VFL players have absolutely burned that two goal lead with unforced errors. Dixon, Sibbald and Marshall.

I don't understand how Sibbald is on a VFL list.

How stupid was the umpire watching that from 2m away? If Townsend won't let go and let him up, free kick to Myers. Even if not, he should tolerate Myers giving him a push in the back of the head, given what Townsend was trying to do (delay the restart).

Repeatedly Richmond guys would hang on, or fall on an Essendon player to delay him moving the ball on after marking, and the umpires tolerated it.
At one stage,, the ump even stopped the Essendon player from taking his kick after he extricated himself from a Richmond player on the ground holding him after he marked. He brought the ball back and waved a finger at the Essendon player for being too vigorous in getting free of the hold!!

PS but if you put a toe over the "protected area" imaginary line, it is 50m. They have no idea.

Based purely on the numbers gonna guess Ridley played wing/back flank or half back. Got a lot of it, but mostly kicks and no goals. If we had the stats for clearances, rebound 50s and inside 50s/goal assists you'd be able to narrow it down more.

So we're all but guaranteed 4th now and will play Richmond in the first final, Geelong have to win today against Williamstown and then beat us as well as scoring over 250 more and conceding 50 less over the next two weeks essentially. Finishing second needs Norf and Coburg beating Footscray, Geelong (possible) and Werribee (also possible) beating Williamstown with us beating Geelong next week. If we'd won yesterday we'd be a chance at second if Norf pulled one out of their arses but as much as it pains me to say, Coburg are no chance at beating Footscray.
