" The players were flat all week" !!

Well, why not rest a few of the flat players and bring in some youngsters like MacCaffer, Dawes, Rusling, Barham into the side ?

In MM's ususal post match blame game, it's NEVER him, it's always about a player/players or the opposition. He NEVER takes the blame for losses or bad performances.

Every club knows that the best way to beat the Woods at the G is to go down the corridor. Ball spent all his time waving when he was alone in their and not once was he acknowledged.

Biggest mistake today was the finger pointing by players... bad sign !

I read an article on thursday that named the 10 players in the team that were flat. They even interviewed 2 of them..... although they were flat at the time and found it very difficult to speak as they were laying flat down on the grass.

However it seems that MM didnt see them flat at the time..... other coaches were walking around these 10 players and could have easily taken photos of them being flat and shown them to MM. Or they could have at least told MM.....but no.....the 10 guys managed to keep their flatness a secret...

And by Saturday, it was harder to see their flatness because they had.....ummm......reinflated....a little......

but you are right...MM should have measured them

we should get rid of MM at the end of next year...

When has any top side ever dropped half the side after a good win? Come on!

He NEVER takes the blame for losses.......

....we won.

He should still take the blame, the bastard! 2-0 to start the season, sack him and bring in Bucks!

What I find amusing is that last week we had a raft of posters suggesting we beat the Dogs due to Bucks influence over Mick, yet this week we are not so keen to share the "glory".

If you watched the game it was obvious that the whole side was flat. Whether this was mental, physical, illness or all three is moot. In these conditions we still found enough to win.'
Claiming that we should have belted Melbourne is totally blind to the fact that Melbourne to their credit played very good football.

My focus is on the Saints.

we got destroyed and still won... like you pie eyed im looking forward to the saints and an improved performance..

some interesting reading from the age regarding MM

Meanwhile, Collingwood president Eddie McGuire has threatened to take legal action against Malthouse if the coach does not see out his controversial new five-year contract.

Malthouse recently indicated on Melbourne's The Footy Show that he hadn't ruled out coaching another club after 2011, when he is due to become the director of coaching, dismaying Magpie officials

He NEVER takes the blame for losses.......

I don't know how you can read his post and read what you did, but miss the bolded part.....

I am about 98% sure Malthouse has Ricky Petterd and Aaron Davey in his Supercoach/Dreamteam squads. Otherwise he might have done something to try and stop them.

Davey.....he was the only bloke on the ground who wanted to run....

B.Johnson was a MASSIVE loss, people still dont give the bloke credit for the amount of run and carry he generates, and we missed him badly yesterday.

Pettered was great, however usually H.Shaw would have done the job on him.

Bad game all round, yet we won.........Collingwood pre 2010 would have lost yesterday for sure.

Pies 2010 > Pies 2009

Half of you have never even coached an Auskick team and are just armchair experts..
Your opinions are old and boring to read. MM is gold.. We need guys like Cloke to stand up if we're to become a threat this year.. Didak, Medhurst, Davis, and a couple of others need to find consistency... We have the best training facilities and the best coaches going around and the players are flat in round 2..That's crap.

Everybody should stay positive, at least we won.

They revert to playing that way when they're getting killed in the middle..If we had played the corridor Melbourne would have won..

If we bring guys in early it will backfire.. Rusling is not ready but Dawes should come in soon..Anthony doesn't deserve his spot..

Did not like the body language from MM and Bucks last night on Before the Game. Looks as though MM is not able to swallow the huge ego he has, and work with someone that is the greatest player and respected leader in our history ever.

We will play well this year, and win alot of games, but I predict from what I have seen in the last 24 hours, that we will fall just short again.

Has anyone asked these simple questions? WHY is Bucks not Assistant coach? My answer is because MM could not handle it. Next question is why is Bucks a forward coach? As far as I can remember, Bucks was the best Midfielder the club has had. Why not midfield coach? No that all would be too sensible for the Pies at the moment. They are treating Bucks lik a dummy.

The sooner I see the back of Malty the better. He would be pulling all these strings, to not have Bucks in the position he should be. Forward coach:D:D You got to be kidding. How many goals did Bucks kick. Hardly reason to be a forward coach. The midfield could really use his expertise, but MM seems to have a bad taste in his mouth, as always.

I believe MM would be good to have at the club as the role Eddie had earmarked for him after his coaching career, but MM wants to break some record as to how many years he can coach without winning a flag.

UNITY thats what we need, and I don't see that we have it. NO side has won a flag without it. I wish MM could grow up, and realise he isn't as good as he thinks he is. 1994 is a looooong time ago now. I wish he could embrace the new structure coming in, but mr ego cannot, which unfortunely will see us just short yet again.

I don't like to trash the coaching staff, but it would do my health good if we developed some type of plan to protect the corridor.

I agree

but we could do it and did it well last week

MM is the senior coach, the buck stops with him. When we win Buckley gets plenty of plaudits for our new forward set up......when we lose MM is at fault!

Wonder what ur prediction was straight after the dogs game?

Anybody that actually judges our entire season on one specific games has issues. It was one week, and a game we ended up winning, in a long season.

All supporters would have taken 2-0 to start the season, and we are 2-0.

He aint assistant coach as it disrespects the incumbent in the position. If you aint realised we actually have had a very strong coaching panel BEFORE Bucks joined in.

Why would we disrespect those people, and harm their chances of furthering their career.....Buckley himself wouldn't want that.

Why is Buckley forward coach......you need to improve your weakest points, that is what Buckley has always done.........he is a champion midfielder, but if you are going to be a senior coach you need to be an all rounder.......Buckley admits himself that he is still learning. Putting him midfield coach stops him from learning, and that is what he is currently doing.

Shakes head........cant wait for rnd 3 in 2012 when you have the knives in Bucks' back.

How about you stop telling people how to support the club, and what to think. I am not jumping into your posts and saying how wrong you've got it, so although your not capable of the same, I do expect it. But I expect too much of people.

I couldn't care less what we do from week to week, as far as what will happen at the end. It matters little when we are in the finals just what our record was in round two or round three. "I" believe we will always fall short with Malthouse, now "I" am entitled to that opinion, just as you are that everything smells sweet regardless of what happens. I bet you were saying Tony Shaw was great too.

This crap that Buckley is still learning rubbish, I have had enough of it. Michael Voss is senior coach at Brisbane, Brad Scott is senior coach at North, and heaps of coaches with less of an idea than our man Bucks has got, have been put into senior coaching positions. But some how Bucks is made feel he isn't capable yet, and needs the biggest training wheels, to ensure success. YOU are entitled to that opinion, I won't yell you down for it, but don't blame me for thinking it is the biggest load of crap this decade. Buckley has more idea about the game, than all others. Once again, another opinion. He was the best reader of the game, and player of the game I have seen.

Now I am against someone with that high opinion of themselves, when they have not taken the side to a flag, and have not participated in a flag since 1994. I was 19 back then, and have done a shit load of things since then. Malty should know that the only thing that matters is a flag, and when he talks, he shouldn't act like he is gods gift to the game. I don't like Malty, and "I" am entitled to have that opinion, as you are if you want to love him. History shows that only one coach went on after a ten year stint with no flag, and that was Ted Whitten. I don't like my club being the other exception, with a load mouth, favourites playing bully, that has the ego to match.

Sure we are looking good, but we will not know whether it al matters until AFTER finals. You talk of 2 and 0, and the rest of it, good on you, I'll let you think that. Just don't try make me think the way you do, I did that for years, but I know better now. Far be it for me to tell you not to do what I did for years, and that is follow the club blindly, and love there every move. 1 flag in over fifty years says it for me.

Nothing but the best:rolleyes:

I don't like to trash the coaching staff, but it would do my health good if we developed some type of plan to protect the corridor.

Firstly, I like MM as a coach but this boundary line game plan is a disaster - always has been...why do I "as a nuff nuff watcher" see how clubs destroy us through the corridor and it can be quick and brutal...if we are setting up out wide it takes a quick offensive from the opposition through the corridor to score = also pressure on the defence.

I am sick of seeing it happen AND when we finally switch up and go through the corridor, we look great. The boundary hugging is MM defensive coaching 101.

I want to see Harry O heading straight down the middle setting up plays.

MM argument has always been we can only play to our strengths. Time to change and get with the program. Hasn't someone figured out how much more we run with this game plan?

I hope Bucks brings something new to the table.

Dnine you need to chill out, MM does his job and has done well over the last few years. you need alot to go your way in a season and after two games i wouldnt be an astute judge. Patience. Buckley will come to the helm in two years and he will have all of these same players at his disposal. It is then you can be a judge. Sides are always going to have a good and a bad day. We have a great list and they will be only better by the time Bucks gets there. In the mean time let MM do his job if he fails miserably he will go sooner than you think. You shouldnt get caught up about things you cant change and MM isn;t one your going to get rid of by bitching on an internet site.

Enjoy the season for what it is and learn to be patient

You make valid points which are hard to argue with.....clearly if we do not win the flag in the next two years, MM coaching stint has been a disaster. From Eddie down there should be no favorites if you want to win a flag. At some stage a player will get an instruction from Bucks which may not fall in line with MMs thinking - what does the player do? - listen to Bucks as his future (long term coach) or listen to MM and risk his current playing potential...this will happen unless Bucks and MM think alike..then god help our future...more of the same. Am I wrong?

We all suspected that MM was too big headed to make the transition easily. Parkin managed to do it, and take backwards steps to allow it to be done in harmony, and Parkin won premierships. He had every reason to believe he was better than Wayne Britton but didn't. His sole focus was what was good for the Carlton football club. Leigh Matthews could see that Brisbane would be better off moving forward with a young more exciting coach, even though he just won three flags. Malthouse just has too big an ego, he only cares about himself. I really wish he would just step aside, and let us get on with it with Bucks as senior coach.

Since 2003, Malthouse went from the father figure, to the coach that only had some of his players 100% commitment. He is aggressive to the point, that no one would dare admit that to be true, so we will never know 100%. Since 2003 though, other clubs have come from behind us, to win premierships, where as, apparently we haven't had the right opportunity with the players we have got. I don't believe that, I believe had a better coach been in control of Collingwood, we would of won a flag by now, and not just come close.

This limbo period, will more than likely stuff up any chance for us, especially with the transition, not being embraced by Mr Ego. Like Ted Whitten, the extention to the ten year contract, will finish with no ultimate success to speak of.
