All The Presidents Men (1976) (Netflix)

This is a famous movie starring Redford & Hoffman. It's the movie about the Watergate Scandal and how two young reporters doggedly got to the truth through the political swamp, ultimately leading to Nixon's resignation. The movie is pretty fast-paced, and the supporting cast, with the likes of Jason Robards (he won an Oscar for this movie role), Jack Ward, and Hal Holbrook, were excellent. The cast also had a lot of young versions of actors who would later become regular faces on TV shows and in movies for years to come.

The movie itself has a few flaws, especially how it ends. I was waiting for the "ah-ha" moment when they realized Nixon had ordered a cover-up. Even though Deepthroat hinted at it enough, it never really came (in the movie). The involvement of the deep state (FBI & the CIA) in the affair was never really explored beyond a superficial mention here and there and the odd moment of paranoia by the reporters. There was a layer there that could have added some real suspense to the film that they missed. 7/10 (Good)

Would love to see a remake with some more modern production techniques.

Can anyone help out with this- this morning was at the gym at 9am and came across a movie (documentary) on SBS World Movie channel on the treadmill. Instantly I was hooked- was about Jewish children who were sent to England? during WWII. Obviously I couldnt just press a button and see the TV Guide on the treadmill, and then had to leave less than half an hour later.

Does anyone know what is running on SBSWM's atm that would fit that description? Cheers.

Dont know the movie but sounds like it was about this.

I know there is a new movie with Anthony Hopkins coming out about the man who did it but doubt that was the movie you saw.

No it was clearly a documentary, with actual men and women from the era recounting their stories directly to camera.

And yep that's the exact topic.

The 20 or so minutes I watched it, learned some children were forced to be servants.

I had a look on the tv guide - looks like it was called Into the Arms of Strangers.

I gotta finish watching this one day. It seemed good. Most memorable thing though was Daniel Craig drinking Fosters.

Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using Tapatalk
Lol I don't remember that even from the rewatch
But Fosters did sell itself to the world as Australia's beer

I am Legend.

I've never warmed to Will Smith. His medium range is fine and agreeable, but when he gets angry I just see an angry ma.. person. I don't see an actor in control.

He is brilliant in segments of this movie, the scene with his dog is heartbreaking, but he just isnt a Leo, or a Brad or a Denzel. He does manage to carry this film pretty much solo, which not too many actors could do.

It's an ok film with some incredible scenery for it's time(an empty NY is a place I'd love to visit) before CGI dominated and the dufuses of the world went gaga for Marvel rubbish.

I'd give it a 7.

Next up... Toy Story 4. me and my 2 year old are watching this over a few days.

Aren't they making a sequal to "Iam Legend" .....just announced

Apparently the animated "Leo" is excellent ....with a great story

Ted (2012)
Probably the best Christmas comedy movie this century. The whole setup hinges on the Spirit of Christmas Miracle.
Slapstick, lowbrow comedy with an off chops teddy bear ensues.
The original cocaine bear.
Have never watched Flash Gordon, looks epic.
Still 5 stars
Thanks was saving this to rewatch again and Im looking forward to it, might leave it for Xmas eve. :$

Never realized there is an extended edition of this movie.

Heat (1995)

Love this movie, if you haven't seen it watch it.
Arguably the best "realistic" bank robbery scene in a movie ever.

De Niro and Pacino at their finest. That coffee scene and the ending was something special.

Daniel Craig's Bond Movies, from Casino Royale all the way to No Time to Die.

Watched this over 5 nights. Really enjoyed the journey and with each movie fresh in my mind, made the next one even more enjoyable. Previously I have watched them separately over a few months and felt there was always one or two things I would forget or miss over time and felt it lost something, as I would miss out for the connections, occasionally. :$

Previous Bond movies to Daniel Craig, were fairly much a standalone movie.

Moving forward this is the only way I will watch the Daniel Craig Bond Movies.

Felt kinda sad that Daniel Craig's Bond character died at the end, especially given he found out he has a child and could be with a woman who loved him, knowing all parts of him. I didnt mind the "female 007" as a point of difference, but no way a woke approach if forced on us would work in a story arc involving several movies. Didnt mind and didnt care, that Q was gay, in one very subtle scene, didnt detract from the character and the actor played him well.

There was talk that Nolan may be involved in the next Bond. Just rumours apparently.

James Bond dying the in the latest movie was extreme arrogance by the writers and producers. The character does not belong to them. Any subsequent movies should pretend that No Time To Die ever happened.
