Who will be Essendon's next James Hird?

As others have said Hird is irreplacable and there will never be another like him.

Having said that our next cult figures are likely to be Bachar Houli, based solely on his heritage rather than his performances so far as i see him bringing alot of the muslim community to the EFC with him. Or Angus Monfries, the young fellas big heart has already won him many fans and when his playing level finally stabilises at the output we know he can have he will win over more fans than he has already.

To OLDEP above i'm guessing your generation of football started post Ablett if he wasn't in your claims to football greatness.

Hird and Carey for mine are our generations claim to football greatness. I still don't even think Judd will be as good as Hird. Judd has a good team, with a good ruckmen who block well for him. Hird has done it in good times and when it's tough, and truly beaten teams almost single handedly.

The bloke is an absolute marvel, so much so I'm trying to fly over for Hirdys final home and away game, so long as I can get a ticket.

Players like Reynolds, Coleman and Hird dont come around often. We havent seen Essendon's next superstar yet IMO. He'll come in 10-15 years time.

No one will ever replace hird...people may step into his role but not to the level he did....he,s essendons greatest player....everrr
