Carlton
Premierships have long been seen as the ultimate measure of success in the AFL. However, they only capture a moment in time and depend on many factors like luck, injuries, and timing. This makes them a limited and outdated way to judge a club’s true strength.

Individual awards such as the Brownlow Medal and Coleman Medal highlight consistent elite performance and talent development. These honors show which players and clubs are pushing the game forward season after season.

Carlton Football Club is a perfect example. While premierships have been rare recently, Carlton is currently the most individual award-winning club in the modern AFL. Their success in producing Brownlow winners and other top players proves they are a powerhouse of talent and excellence.

In today’s game, individual accolades are a better reflection of sustained success and impact than premierships alone, and Carlton stands alone at the top of the mountain. It’s time for you all to rethink your definitions of success.

I thought no way.. interesting... if Colemans, Brownlows, Gary Ayres Medals, Norm Smith and Premierships are the criteria and are equal weighting:

Carlton 6 (2021-2023 Coleman, 2022 and 2024 Brownlow, 2023 Gary Ayres)
Geelong 5 (2020 and 2025 Coleman, 2022 Norm Smith, 2022 Gary Ayres, 2022 Premiership)
Brisbane 5 (2024 Gary Ayres, 2024 Norm Smith, 2024 Premiership, 2020 and 2021 Brownlow)
Richmond 3 (2020 premiership, 2020 Gary Ayres, 2020 Norm Smith)
Melbourne 2 (2021 premiership, 2021 Norm Smith)
Collingwood 2 (2023 premiership, 2023 Norm Smith)
Bulldogs 1 (2021 Gary Ayres)
GWS 1 (2024 Coleman)
Port 1 (2021 Brownlow)

All other clubs zero

I rest my case.

Agreed. But I'd argue the more important measure of success is how many grand finals a club makes. The score on the day doesn't really matter too much. Hypothetically, if a club were to lose four consecutive grand finals by say 60, 81, 22 and 63 points, those results are pretty invalid because the club still got to enjoy all those grand final parades.

Nah Premierships are the ultimate measure of individual success, Thats why Chris Dawes is a better footballer than Gary Ablett.

Oh well no point having Grand Finals then to decide the Premiership winner.

This has to be one of the most strangest posts I have seen this year. Gold Logie material....or better still....Academy Award stuff.

It's a team sport last time I checked.

But hey, whatever works to help you cope with the fact your team was once a powerhouse (if not THE powerhouse) and are now a running joke.
The thread actually has logic

Amateur footy sees players not prepared to move and love their clubs

AFL is about the $$$ it’s about the individuals which is why buddy ablett jnr de goey players move for the $$ their individual brilliance makes them $$$$$& so individual honours gets them those $$$ not premierships

AFL is about money and the players need to maximise their worth and that is the number 1 goal

Spot on.

Being prepared to play for St Kilda is another option.

Out of all the shit dusty achieved, the brownlow is at the bottom. Really couldn’t care about it

The team with the most free kicks in a match lost, surely you just extrapolate that out and crown whichever side sits atop the victim table?
