Big Bad Barry may be on the market after his comments this morning.
Direct swap for Staker.
He could make a few of our young forwards stand taller for a couple of seasons.
It won't happen but it would be interesting.

I say we rip Carlton, let Yarran tell the Blues he is coming back west and that he will pick the side he wants to go to. Then Yarran prices himself out of Freo's reach and we snag him for nothing...now that would be KARMA!!!!:D

I think with the size of Subi he would be better suited and if he gets his injuries behind him he could be a hell of a player.
He has shown he has immence ability and if we could get him playing well I believe he could be a real asset to the team.
He has shown he has pace, Skill and like to run and carry the ball.
Thats why.

Thats a lot of 'ifs' on a bloke who has been in the system for what, six odd years, and hasn't been able to get himself injury free and cement a spot in a team, lets face it until last year (and some would argue still is), was pretty shite.

I would do that trade (the original OP).

For whatever reason, Kerr has been ineffective for us this year. He is 26 (and that is a well worn 26, he goes in hard and always has). We are building a young team, will he be around long enough to contribute to the team when we are at a stage to be a contender? Probably not at the level we would like to think he could contribute.

Two top 10 picks this year would be the icing on the rebuilding cake IMO.

The only concern I would have would be about Yarran. I can see this guy becoming another Sampi, all the talent in the world, but not the mental strength/ application to make it at the top. Maybe that would change for the better if he was home with friends, maybe that would make it worse?

I would hate to have to trade Daniel Kerr. I can't see a gun midfield developing without transitional leadership which Kerr provides. Sure, he may be 29+ when we are challenging for the flag again but so what. And re Leadership... i mean a quality midfielder that leads the way in actions/ability.

I can't see Ebert, Swift, Masten, Selwood etc developing on their own... it reminds me of a Richmond who have talented players but don't have that proven performer who shows them the 'next level'.

Without that link between the past (success) and the future (development) it's almost impossible that the necessary 'quality' will just develop naturally.

Only Brisbane in recent times have developed a winning team in a 'vaccum' of past champions but they had alot of consessions, merger, coach, talent which helped them overcome this... similar to WestCoast in the 90's and Adelaide too.

Having said that, if Kerr is too impatient for the process to take its course, then that would be the reason to trade him and so far that 'appears' true. But i reckon a good finish to this season, with Kerr finding form will change all opinions.

PS. Let's not get too caught up in 'process'. Teams are so similar these days that in 2 years, we could easily be a contender. And Champions tend to make all the difference in the big games, so giving one away just doesn't seem logical.

No way in hell we would trade Murphy. Kerr could be good.

Kerr + 2nd round pick for 1 st round pick + Yarran + Steven Browne

done deal:thumbsu:

The idea of trading Kerr has nothing to do with an assertion that he is no good, rather the opposite. The notion is more about being pragmatic and making the team stronger in 3 years - when we will next be in real contention.

I reckon it might work.

This is the one reason why I dont think trading Kerr would be a good idea. I dont believe that our young kids will be in premiership contention without Kerr in 3 years. If Masten, Ebert, Scooter, Swift and Shuey have to hold up the midfield by themselves in 3 years without the added benefit of Kerr being there they wont be ready for a premiership.

Kerr will be either playing in the forward line with stints in the midfield or working from the bench and being an impact player. The younger guys will be doing the brunt of the work which will allow Kerr to come in and add that X factor and class without having to be on the field 90% of the game.

No - we don't trade with Carlton

we should be creating the ultimate payback beating them to a premiership not handing them one.
and yes I hold a grudge

The other option of course is:

WCE trade Kerr + 5th round pick2nd Round pick to carlton.
Carlt trade Murphy + 3rd Rnd Pick+ 1st pick to Brisbane.
Brisbane trade Rich + 1st rnd pic to WCE

that gives us 2 first round picks Plus Daniel Rich.:thumbsu:
Brisbane get Mark Murphy+ 3rd rnd pick and a 1st round Pick
Carlton get Daniel Kerr and 2 second round picks

Brisbane would never willingly part with Rich. Rich and Voss know each other from their academy days and are on friendly terms. Voss rates Rich highly.
Brisbane would have to have rocks in their head to go for a deal such as this.

Kerr needs to stop throwing himself so hard at contests, its like he's bent on keeping up his image that he is the toughest, hardest, maddest. Like running back with the flight of the ball looks courageous, but it really does nothing to help sometimes.
Also I think his drop of form has coinciding with meeting his fiancee, he needs to get back to his wild 18-24 y.o ways (just joking).

Seriously though, I reckon he is our matchwinner. Trading him would be unloyal and silly IMO.

You aren't familiar with EA's trade scenarios are you? :D:D:D This is surprisingly one of his less complicated/convoluted efforts... he really gets into stride around August. :p:p

Are we just talking about trading Kerr or trades with Carlton in general?

Keep Kerr. Give Hansen and Staker for Yarran.

Good deal for both parties. Carlton get a semi-competent CHF and some handsome bloke and WCE get a small forward.

Yep, he would be looking forward to GC17's entry - Can have 17 teams involved in the one trade with hopefully a couple of special international picks thrown in and maybe some trading of NSW Scholarship selections just to balance things up. :p;)

I've seen some out there trade proposals, not just from EA mind you. I just had to comment on this one because of how extremely unrealistic this deal is.

BTW Eagle87, I'm not referring to your trade proposal, as it has some merit IMO.

Seriously, this was nothing. Wait and see......;)

Well this was back in the preseason.

The psychotherapist thing was my sig too btw, left that out by accident.

I only went onto their board to actually tell people there when the game down here vs Fremantle was on, where to get tickets and how to get to Hands Oval, and I got banned.

Oh well.

Watching the match last week I did think we could get something good for him, however, we won't have a very good experienced inside midfield.

Priddis leading our midfield? No thanks.
