Wow, Port are falling apart.

Russell Ebert is nowhere near as bad as Max Stevens who hates Port with a passion. KG and Cornes are both hopeless.

RE Tredrea, AA CHF 3 times an "average" player? I think not. If he'd kicked straight last night he would have got 7 goals, and kicked 5 straight against the Lions. He had an off week against you guys, no doubt McGregor did a great job, and you're prepared to write him off. Do it at your own peril. Tredders gave Kouta a total bath last nite, and gave Whitnall the run around too. "IF only" he'd converted.

Ah okay as I said before its not a cop out, but besides a showdown a few years ago that wasnt sold out I havent listened to a crows game on the radio so I wouldnt know what KG and Cornes are like, but if they are like that then as I said I am glad I dont listen cos Ebert is enough to turn me off of listening to live 5AA broadcasts. I just prefer the straight down the line commentating you hear on the melbourne radio broadcasts.

Anyway, on another note, anyone here (On this board) that needs to re-adjust their predictions from the "2005 Crows prediction" thread? :p

Yeah, I had us 5th, might have had us a bit too low.

I had the crows finishing 12-13th, but I am now thinking 9-10. Hypothetically if we beat WB next week I would seriously think we are a good chance for the eight as we would be 4-1 with 9 home games remaining and a showdown, 12 wins will get you in the eight that would mean a win next week and the equation would then be to win a further 8 games from the next 18 with ten of those being at AAMI stadium which is very achievable.

I thought it was Primus that got reported not Brogan, as for Mahoney I am not sure if he is a definate starting 22 player he is a fringe player in my opinion. You also left out Bishop.

I am a fan of tredrea's but let's not be confused into thinking he is operating in an era of great CHF's. His competition for AA has not been that great, not that i think this should be held against him. He is one of the great forwards of his era, his era or more important his peak not being especially glorious.

unfortunately for him, he follows a string of great forwards so our memories are still particularly vivid.

Bishop was the 1st I mentioned, We need Mahoney back to get some structure back in the forwards, Broges was reported for head butting Barnaby French.
Wish it was Primus that was reported

you've included brogan to make the list look greater than it is, until he is actually suspended its best not to add him. Apart from cornes who was only missing this week, there aint a whole lot to come back in there.

Ebert sounds like a country hack, and i dont think you can call anything he does as commentary when he works at the club.

Tredrea is a little above average, but as others have said he hasnt exactly had a lot of competition for those AA spots. And it wasnt so much that he didnt kick straight which has always been a problem until last yr, it was inability to assert himself at all. He hardly gave whitnall the run around either. Fev was easily the best forward on the ground.

hes basically filling gaps until JB and reiwoldt come through thats the truth. He cant be the great of his 'era' if the era is three yrs, so its a pretty silly thing to say. Really if there was no doubt as to his 'greatness' ppl like ebert and rucci wouldnt have to sing his praises. When someone says carey was a star or ablett or anyone of that caliber there aint any argument. I feel greatness has passed him, but what he does in the next 3 yrs will determine his status.

I included Broges as he will probably be suspended, why would I try and make the list look greater?
You may be a Crow supporter but you ain't completely stupid :D

There is a whole lot to come back....Bish has been a huge loss, I think we have missed him the most, Pickett puts the fear of god in defenders, missing Jnr Burgers run is definitely hurting the team, Mahoney's footy smarts are invaluable. When these guys come back no doubt you will see a renewed Power.

For the life of me i can't understand all the negative & spiteful comments coming from pap supporters in regards to Matty Primus.

I watched the Pap/Blues game again yesterday on FF & granted he made a couple of fumbles/mistakes but so did most of your team but at least Primus tried his guts out to lift the rest of his players & some of his work in & around the packs/stoppages was very good & even set up a couple of goals.

He has had one bad game so far this year but was given best-on-ground by most for the Brisbane game & in my opinion he was by far not the worst player out there last sat night against Carlton.

Now the issue about him being captain is another point but why blame him for wanting to be captain of his club if he thought he could still do the job ? maybe the blame should be put on others at pap land for not making the hard decisions.

But to actually read some of these comments here & on the Pap board regarding Matty Primus is at the very best bewildering & at the worst bloody disgraceful aimed at a man who has no peer in my opinion as a leader of men in the AFL.

Primus is our captain, and IMO rightly so.
He looks as if he is ready mentally, but not quite physically, but do you bring players like that back in through the twos?
He perhaps should to slowly get himself back into the pace of it, but it is not the standard practice.
His only fault IMO is that if anything, he is trying too hard. Trying too hard to do what he thinks his body is capable of rather than what it actually is capable of doing. That leads to clumsy tackles that are a split second late, getting caught where once he wouldn't, unusual fumbling etc.
Once his body catches up to his mind, he will be back to his best, or if it doesn't we will know soon enough. There is no other way with him. 100% or bust. Go you good thing.

The real problem facing Port atm is not Primus per se, but the fact that we have a number of players in the same boat. Just how many of them we can carry at once is the difficult question facing the coaching staff.

I hope Port's season picks up, and ours maintains the standard it is at now; Hopefully Rucci will then have nothing to complain about and he will vanish up the same orifice that most of his writing comes out off.

I felt sick having to defend Matty on the Port board. I shouldn't have to. It's stupid to blame him for all that ails the side at the moment.

There are many reasons why we are playing crap footy at the moment, but most players simply need to take a good, hard look at themselves.

Presuming Brogan gets a match (which is likely considering the mood of the tribunal at the moment and the fact he was spotted by 2 umpires), you've got six first-choice players out. Two of those for stupidity - Pickett and Brogan - so there are 4 first 22 players out with injury.

Perhaps that's why McDermott was saying in the Showdown 5AA coverage that Port's big name injury list is a myth.

I will come back here next week to have a comprehensive analysis of the Port Vs Geelong match
Will the match day thread also be located at this site?

Might as well.

If you guys play your cards right we might even consider a merger of boards.

As long as you respect the "Crows are always on top rule" :D

You just worry about the Bulldogs this week. You're lucky the Subi Curse will happen. Who'd have thought-the Crows 4-1 after round 5??

I still expect Port to be a major threat come September but if you take a wander over to the Port board, you will get a glimpse of what life will be like when they have their cyclical lean times - anarchy??? By the way some of their older guys are playing, it could be sooner rather than later.

Where's this much heralded depth too???
