The point about the team that finishes 8th if thats so then thats not right, and that reflects on the whole league. I agree 3 divisons theres new teams popping up all the time

to have three divisions would be handy to have because the western region is growing so rapidly and the comp would be much more even, you would have to bring in/and or start up at least 2 or 3 teams to make it worth having the 3 divisions. i think the minimum is 8 teams per division. correct me if i got it wrong.

If it was 8 would you have a top 4 or you would have the same problem with teams losing more than winning and making finals i think any player would want to make it like that

Can the deer Park, st.albans, sunshine areas support another senior team? We already have Deer Park, St Albans, Albanvale, Sunshine, North Sunshine and Sunshine Heights all playing within a 6 km radius of each other. This area is becoming the Melb of the AFL (too many teams in one area.)

In the event of a 3 division competition , the bottom 2 teams in Div 1 go to div 2 and the bottom 8 teams from div 2 go to div 3, and the 6 team around Deer Park, St. Albans and sunshine could merge into 3 teams and introduce Newport Power, a team from Tarneit and Point Cook into one of the div's.

Can anyone tell me if Joe Andruela is still playing at Albanvale and how he is going?

Yes he is back playing for the cobra's, I understand he has been there ruckman ( due to their lack of talls ) and by all reports is doing well.

It is the windiest ground of all time and coldest but is a waste to the WRFL i know when players play at Yarravillas ground they get excited because of the big grandstand and its the same with Skinner.
Do they even play finals there anymore?

No question, the atmosphere at yarraville is electric during the finals, unfortunately I can not say the same for skinners. Skinners at its peak was a fantastic surface, but the wide open spaces gave it a ghostly feel. Back in 94-97 the Western Jets used it as its base, the AFL put a little money into it to spruce it up and even the western bulldogs trained there over preseason. Unfortunately the council in its wisdom decided to remove the outer fences and open the park to the community ( read druggies ) one particular night a bucket load of syringes were collected prior to training. That my boy was an end to that, jets since relocated to Caroline springs and skinners left to the roaming of dogs and the odd soccer game.

The ground is behind the local primary school, it is a reasonable size with good grass cover, cold and lonely place on a bad day, the electronic score board is nice though. There are plans for a new purpose built sports oval, grandstand included, even hopes that willy may play some games out there. Collingwood runs the local pub/pokie venue, so I am sure what ever happens it will be well done. ( not sure on the time frame though )

had a mate that played for gladdy park on the w'end and they came up against sunshine heights, he was tellin me the jumper clash they had for that game was shocking. gladdy havin the port melbourne style jumpers with white number on the back. and heights havin royal blue, red and white panels, also, with the white number on the back. is it the clubs or wrfls descison for ressolving the clashes by putting forward an alternative strip?

what do people think about finals being played at Altona.... absolute crap in my opinion. You never see a good contest because of the wind, there is no atmosphere and the crowds hate it.... but year after year they get finals simply because the ground has a fence!!

On the 3 divisions, maybe the league should drop the bottom 6 teams to a 3rd div and offer all clubs the chance to start up a "thirds team". That way you have Div 1, 10 teams, Div 2 8 teams and div 3 6 teams + any 3rds teams that started. Surely there are at least 4 clubs that could make up a third side... only thing is the reserves in 3rd div have a few extra byes

on of the main reasons i think they gave away the 3rd division was because that the other teams were filling in a 3rd senior team. players that were more than capable of playing a grade footy in their firsts were found to be constanatly playing in the thirds for what ever reason.

if 2 more sides were to form i think it would be straight forward div 1 x 10 sides final 5, div 2 x 10 sides final 5 and div 3 x 8 sides final 4.

hope it goes thru.

Played there two weeks ago and it was a pearler of a day. I was expecting it to be windy and cold, but it could not have been any better. Nice big ground and they generally have good change rooms.

Can anyone tell me if Jason Barry is still running around and if so is he still killing them?

Yeah JB is still running around with the devils and is still going great guns.
He manages to kick his 3 or 4 each week, but apart from that, he is a great mentor for the younger forwards we have coming through the ranks. He is a handy player to have when there is a goal to be kicked.. you can rely on JB to get one on the board for you!

U would need 4 more sides for that... thats 28 teams and there are only 24 at the moment

miscalculated, been a while since maths class.....4 more sides

Does anyone know of a bloke called matthew walsh?, I heard he was playing in Div 1, but was struggling to get a kick in that comp because of his weight and was told not to go back unless he dropped at least 20kg I was told he was going to Glenordan, is he playing there and is he getting a kick?.

Anyone want to make any predictions for the weekends games.... apart from Whyndhamvale V Heights and Centrals V Gladstone Park they all look like 1 way traffic!!

I was at Western Magpies Match today, and i feel they are slowly on their way back, scores were level at Half Time and ended up being a good match. The improvement has come from some kids coming into the seniors from the Under 18s so hopefully they will continue the improved form.

Was at heights V W'Vale.... All I can say is W'vale are SOFT...the most short steps ive ever seen. I was embarrased for them...

If these Under 18 boys from Laverton have made the seniors better ... how good is the under 18 side down there??

Not sure about these young guys. They must not have played against heights 2 weeks ago. In that game WM would not have had 1 player that would be playing seniors in any of the top 6 sides... Do u know if WM pay any of their players?

Western Magpies seniors arent payed they r all volunteers , perhaps that is y the club has been struggling for so long ... they need a sponsor so they can afford to bring good players to the club and keep the young blokes at the club
