Wtf has happened to the 'Aints? They led 5.3 to 1.2 at quarter time but it's been 13 goals to 6 to the blues since then...

Reminiscent of us in 2010-2012.

Their best, in fits and starts, is really quite good. But between fitness and lack of size they can't maintain it over 4 quarters and can be bulled out of a game rather quickly as soon as momentum turns.

Nah, **** 'em. When we hit rock bottom we were getting smashed by everyone outside the club, all the relocate to Tassie crap, debt ridden, called irrelevant, should be kicked out of the AFL & sanfl etc, etc, etc. with a Melbourne "legend" in Gary Lyon leading the charge with his no kids want to come to Port Adelaide garbage. Not to mention the hiding we copped from the local media and even the campaigners who held our licence and should have been doing everything in their power to make us successful.

We are where we are due to hard work, good management, sound recruiting and trading and top notch player development and, yes, financial aid all the while getting bent over at our lowest with the ridiculous concessions given to GC and GWS.

Good luck to Melbourne, I actually enjoy seeing them win, but they have no one but themselves to blame for the rabble they have been for many years.

I don't subscribe to the "bloody Vics" sentiment many are indoctrinated with over here, but, when discussing the viability of clubs there's no doubt we suffer.

Melbourne are always discussed with a foundation of entitlement. The oldest club. The rich success for much of the game's existence. The MCC links. No-one entertains their demise as a standalone entity and when they really struggled a few years ago it was all hands on deck to get them up.

Between our branding and being viewed as a 'new' expansion club, people were falling all over themselves to bemoan our entry at Fitzroy's expense, let alone have us shipped off to Tasmania.

That's a consequence of the AFL and the club being distinctly 'off message' from the beginning.

It's come to light that AFL House were only ever awarding us the second SA licence - so all the hoops we jumped through and money spent on our campaign was for nothing - the AFL demanded the SANFL include us, as they wanted an existing club, with an existing catchment to compliment the composite Crows.

But then, for some reason which will never be adequately explained, the AFL paradoxically demanded that Port's entry be recognised as a brand new entity, established 1996. Completely going against their own demand for an existing club to get the second licence. And as we know, all of that nonsense plus our complicit "Port Power" branding caused a confusion that exists to this day.

So the grand old flag has a perennial right to exist regardless of their myriad issues, the 18 year old [sic] West Horshamite Football Franchise can piss off as soon as it hits the first real rough patch in 145 years.

That was so ******* out of bounds it was insane the umps didnt catch it.
Not as bad as Eddie sitting in the seats Betts.

Did Bruce just say this felt like a final?
They said the same about Rich V Melb.

Every game feels like a final apparently.

Also these ******* war analogies, these guys follow a ball around an oval getting cheered on and getting paid 6x the average salary.
They aren't seeing their friends die on a battlefield.. you can respect the soldiers without trying to make AFL sound like a war.

Great start to the weekends tipping. Both wrong on the BF website and I only got Melbourne right on the Port Adelaide website because I ticked the wrong box.

Did Bruce just say this felt like a final?

He said that about the Carlton v Richmond game. I would like it to be the final time they are on the telly.

This 'contact below the knees' rule must be the single worst rule change of all time. It goes against everything footballers have been taught from a young age for over a century. Penalises people for going harder at he ball and getting to it first.

disagree, its harsh at times but you shouldnt be allowed to dive in and take peoples legs out, that bloody dangerous.

But they don't pay it against people 'diving in and taking people's legs out', they pay it against people who get to the ball first and then have an opponent who didn't go as hard at the ball keep running and trip over them.

as you just said, diving in and taking their legs out, its fair enough, isnt allowed in any sport, and shouldnt be, do that in the nfl and you are looking at some time out of the game.....unless you are green bay in a playoff v dallas then anything is allowed....

A normal day at Collingwood, featuring none other than Marley Williams.

Saw that Jamie Elliott goal again at half time. What made that one worse than the Eddie Betts one was that the umpire had a perfect view of it, the pockets are not as wide in the MCG and also this was further out. It was obvious that Elliott's left foot was planted outside the boundary line and the kick he made was a normal one i.e. kicking foot to the right of the planted foot and therefore even further outside the line.

The problem seems to be that in a split-second the umpire has to decide whether any part of the ball is in or out and like marks, they often come down on the outcome that seems most spectacular. The rugby law of being out when the line is stepped on or over would be a lot easier to police.
