There are more clubs than Geelong looking for experienced key position swingmen.
Collingwood want him smells like panic buy because if Buckley don't make finals next season he is out.
Melbourne are in the game likely Roos wants to finalise his defence before he goes.
Geelong are in the game
Saints looking for replacement for Sam Fisher.

They can have him then, assuming he is willing to go and not screw Carlton by going in the pre season draft.

You are right that clubs are looking for versatile players but why would somebody like Henderson, who is built like Tarzan but plays like Jane. For a guy who spent a lot of time this year at HB where the ball spent the majority of the time his stats are poor and do not support his request for a large contract

2014: K: 8.0; M: 5.0; HB: 3.2; Goals 1.6
2015: K: 8.3; M: 6.0: HB: 3.4; Goals 1.0

Carlton draft these blokes with a R1 pick, fail to develop them - stop playing them and then want a R1 pick again.

Carlton didn't draft him, did develop him into a quality defender (and a pretty crap forward), and played him at every opportunity right up till he said he's leaving.

0/3. That amount of fail is impressive

Nope. You got him for a mid first rounder four years. You seriously think he is worth the same despite his remaining career already being halved in that time?

Doesn't matter what I think, his value is driven by what you'll pay. (Or won't but what someone else will).

Who would have thought that Rhys Stanley was worth pick 21?

Stanley is worth more than Henderson and he only got 21.

Good god man. You paid pick 21 for a 2nd string ruckman you hoped could play forward a little.

Henderson is a bona fide CHB who can play fwd and kick 5 or more on his day. It'd be like having a lesser Harry Taylor to go with the actual Harry Taylor.

Rhys Stanley worth more? Please.

Henderson has just been dropped from the bottom team in the comp and hasn't played centre half back in how long? And lol he kicked five against an injury ravaged stkilda. Even our own Walker can do that and I would offload him for free.

Some recent examples if it was Henderson and 21 for pick 7

2010 Josh Caddy v Henderson and Lamb
2011 Nick Haynes v Henderson and Bootsma
2012: Olly wines v Henderson and Hrovat
2013: James Aish v Henderson and Impey

and the one cat fans will remember
2006: Joel Selwood v Henderson and Urquart

You have to question if two are better than one. To suggest more needs to come back Carlton's way in the form of Geelongs second pick as well just seems ludicrous

Geelong would be better off trying to slightly upgrade their second pick to 21 or 22 which is what all neutral supporters think an uncontracted, 26 yr old that isn't in the best 150 players in the comp is worth.
Urquart is better than Pendles though.

Hes a defender - a very good one at that.

Henderson has played VFL standard football all year in the worst team in the competition. In addition, he is uncontracted and likely to name Geelong as his preferred club.

He is not worth our first pick in a million years. The only way I could come up with a good trade is Troy Menzel + Henderson for Pick 7 or 8.

I won't get into the 'he's better than him' debate but Stanley is 3 years younger than Henderson. People will scoff but that's a lot of football and it does play a part. Henderson will not play 100 games for Geelong. If he does he'll be 32+.

He's got plenty of potential and is versatile but can anybody argue that he's in the best 200 players in the league?? He wouldn't be in Carlton's best 10 players would he? Don't get me wrong I'd like him at the club but deep down nobody believes he's worth a pick below 20. If he was contracted then maybe. If you get more than that then jump back this thread and give it to us b/c you will have won massively

Look at last year. We got reemed with an uncontracted Christensen who was a 23 yr old mid who will play his best 150+ games for the Lions.

The other thing that makes me chuckle is can anybody name me a player in the last 5-10 years that hasn't got to his nominated club. It died with Nick Stevens. Its just an empty bigfooty threat now. The whole but Melb/Coll want him or we have multiple clubs interested is amusing. The landscape has changed without ppl even realising.

Two not entirely random dates of birth: 14/12/89 and 1/12/90 have a guess how they came to be here.

People will scoff but that's a lot of football and it does play a part.

Yes he's 12 months older and has played 50 more games.

hmm, yes and yes easily if plonked at CHB.

The point is that Henderson, Carlisle and Dixon are rare commodities. Two of them are bona fide CHBs.

Another date of birth for you: 17/5/84, admire Tom Lonergan but he'd be finished soon? I know you have long term replacements on your list but Hendo would be a ready made walk up start to your back line and may even prolong Tom's career by 10-20 games.

Here's a conspiracy theory for you, Carlton refused Henderson's requests to negotiate a contract back in April, May and June. We started hearing whispers that a deal was being brokered with you guys that involved your first, (if in double digits) with some sweeteners around us upgrading your 2nd.

considered a win for Lachie as he's from down there and he'll be reunited with Danger next year.
A win for you guys as Lachie is a quality chap and player
A win for us for obvious reasons given our list profile
