Melbourne is getting desperate.

Roosy is a great get for them but they are still Melbourne.
Until he instills a good culture, players will avoid the place if they are given a choice. I'm sure Roos will change that eventually.

Fair point but the earlier Tony gets to another club, the better from his perspective. If he waited until the delisted free agency signing period, clubs' lists are a little more full and perhaps Collingwood would have moved on from him as a viable option.

Obviously I have no idea what the actual motives are behind this all, but it makes sense from that perspective for Tony to get to Collingwood (or any other club wanting to trade for him) as quickly as possible, particularly as he hasn't had a brilliant last 24 months and I doubt half the competition is climbing over each other to offer him a contract.

I'm fairly sure players that are delisted now can still be signed as delisted free agents, can't they? Isn't that what's happening with Chapman?

**** that's a bad deal for Melbourne. Good luck, Roosy.

I disagree. I don't think pick 2 does Melbourne much good, they weren't going to get Boyd and it's much of a muchness after that. Dom Tyson is quality, and pick 9 can still be used to secure a quality, senior midfielder. If anything, it will be easier. There aren't many midfielders worth pick 2 able to be traded, but there are probably some worth pick 9. Melbourne have repeatedly said they want to trade pick 2 for a strong bodied midfielder (well, that they want to trade pick 2 and they want a strong bodied midfielder). They haven't been able to find something worth pick 2, so they've "broken" it into Dom Tyson and pick 9 (with the other pick trades as a transaction fee).

It may work in our favour, must be some chance of snaring Pick 20 from GWS for Mummy and Dre, particularly if GWS have designs on grabbing somebody in the PSD...

Noticing that a number of commentators and clubs are suggesting this years draft profile is 8-10 very good players, the next 20 are an even bunch and after 30 it falls away more than normal.

I know there's always a late gem discovered but looks like you need picks inside 30 this year. Just hoping that Jesse and Mumfordnet us a couple of those to go with our pick 15.

This mornings GWS-Melb trade might assist us there if GWS are going to play fair in the Mumford transfer. Can't believe the stunning stockpile of players GWS are accumulating who were very high draft picks and the very generous recruitment concessions they were given in their first two years means they can keep getting more high draft picks for a number of years to come by trading away the excess of players they have. The AFL may have unleashed a monster for the next decade.

Just a nothing trade thought Pods was finished this year.

Signed for a conditional 2 year contract which would see him finish at 34.

But but but forwards can't play after 31 and start to suck after 29.

Why would do that?

I think the interesting thing now will be as to whether anyone makes a play for 1 and 2 from the giants.

Before people flip out, im not suggesting we trade someone like Hannebery for the those picks ... or even if Giants would be interested.

But surely clubs out there would be seeing an opportunity to give up 1 senior player ... abeit a very good one e.g. Griffen from the Bulldogs and then get back the two best 18 years olds which 'could' set your club up for 10 years.

thats exactly what the swans think, hence Buddy, the short term weapon with a long term contract.

GWS are coming, might be another three or more years but they are coming. They are the AFL by proxy...not that anyone down south can see it (I mean supporters on BF) but they are the AFL 'love child'. We have got to get our draft selections right, more than ever, no pressure Mr Beatson :)

Very high risk strategy, think Trengove and Scully for the Dees at 1 and 2

Yeah, agree. Although - I think Trengove and Scully would be much better players if they had started at a strong club.

But surely the recruiters would have a reasonable idea of how good the top picks are going to be. Boyd is being spruiked as the best no.1 for a while (this does happen every year). If Jeremy Cameron and Jaegar Omeara were available for one of your players ... Im not sure there would be one player in the league that you wouldn't trade for those 2.

So GWS finish with picks 1 and 2 again what a ******* joke.

It really is a joke. No one says anything now but just wait until they are unbeatable because they have 20+ top 15 drafted players. All these tossers who are currently whinging about the Swans COLA will really have something significant to whinge about.

Sydney's sensational offseason so far:

IN: Franklin, Perris, Mitchell
OUT: Bolton, Mumford, Morton, White, Mattner, Armstrong, Brown, Roos, Tudor, Stone, Colless
