if anything, he'd replace Bundy immediately. Bundy was of those with more upside but Dahlhaus could improve if he changed environment perhaps?
More than handy, we have kittens coming up but maybe not so much ready made just yet.. would love to b able to say that after that NAB Cup next season :)

We don't need Clark and he can walk to us anyway as no club would dare pick him up considering he chose us.

Should of said here are your options Melbourne, we give you pick 55 or we give you Taylor Hunt, we know 55 isn't really fair so if we manage to snag a better pick in the 40's we will give you that.

We could also trade Varcoe and 55 to the pies for 30 and 48 and give 48 to Melbourne for Clark.
Dunno. I think the Pies might take him. I am not sure if you noticed, but they are playing things pretty sternly re Trades etc. ;)

Not sure Varcoe is really worth too much on the open market; and I imagine we want his cap space for next years free agents. I also suspect "off-loading" Travis may be a sensitive and delicate operation, and we don't want to rock the boat too much.

Anyway, we will see where the cards fall, then it will be up to everyone to do the best they can with the hand we have.

If the Beams trade fails, Collingwood won't have a draft pick to adequately compensate North for Greenwood.

Surely Geelong should match Collingwood's offer to Greenwood and maybe add an extra year on and offer North pick 21?

Greenwood is exactly the kind of player we need, especially now after losing Bundy.

Also don't see why we are getting rid of Taylor Hunt for peanuts, he would surely be in our best 22 without Varcoe and Bundy??

Looking like hunt will be the sixth to go and maybe brown the 7th so we will have picks 15, 21 35 and our 3rd rounder plus whatever we get for hunt.

I still reckon we have more trades we will do to get some mid depth (maybe newton) and hopefully a ruck.

I'm not in a great state of mind atm , not very positive but having a group of picks like what you are forecasting has been needed for some time, imo .

The issues I have with this is ,
..to do it at the same time add Clark. Seems a totally unnecessary addition. If the plan was to add some players in the Flag zone , and become more of a real threat again.Fail To me it has not happened. We need mids and we have gone backwards in the mid area. Bundy has hurt us , and now we still will go ahead with Hunt? Varcoe im less distressed by but he was still at the right age and experience.

Second is we continue to add good kids but no great kids. Losing Bundy is an opportunity lost to get a single figure pick imo. Bad timing with Beems etc but every club is doing something and as usual we end up on the wrong end of it.

Third. Now that Lonergan is staying we have 9 guys 30 and over. If we are not a real threat in 2015 , I have to wonder why we have kept two or three of these guys. Out of the three , Lonergan is the one that it would have been proactive to make happen if we are not in flag contention. Get games into the young KPD's

I'm very disillusioned atm. All we need to do is have another successful draft like 09 and that would top it off.

Recommend those who knock him to look @ Rd 2 http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/2014-geelong-board-mvp-vote-count-round-2.1079503/ for a start & maybe other games b4 he was injured, IF we lose the players now being touted TH is not the worst option and we already have him!

Hi guys sorry to intrude but what do you think the club would take for Taylor Hunt? What's you guys thoughts on him?

Taylor Hunt & pick 21 for pick 15?
Wishful thinking?

Clayton wouldn't give up that much IMO. Whether he is worth that or not is another story. He wants to take 8 and 15 to the draft. We need more young talent you know...

He looked very promising a couple of years ago as a tagged and defensive flanker but injured himself last season and has never really recaptured his early form. Good pace, quite tough, longish but average kick.

Geelong would take a 3rd rounder for him as he doesn't seem to fit in with future plans.

It's worth looking at but I think he has his mind made up on Collingwood, although then again so did Clark.

Thanks mate just the info I was after. Haven't heard anything about us being keen but I would give our pick 47 for him in a heartbeat.

I know the events of this morning at the kennel no doubt played a large part in Tom staying put, but the fact still remains that he turned down a large amount of money that any 30 year old footballer would find hard to turn down, but particularly one who hasn't been playing and earning big money from the age of 20 to now.
Tom's injury and recovery took a lot of earning power and time away from him. To turn himself into one of the best full backs in the league after what he has been through, and good enough to command a large financial offer to help set him up further, only to turn it down to stay at the club he loves says a lot about him. And the club.

On Bundy, no doubt it is a bad trade result, no question.

On Clark, I disagree. Sure I don't think we can win the flag next year but he is the same age as Hawkins and I think we all think we will be pushing for a flag before Tom's career is out. And Clark fills an obvious positional need. The risk with him is his foot not his age.

On Hunt my word from a good source was that he wanted to go months ago. Sure we could have tried harder to retain him if we knew about Bundy, but Bundy didn't tell the club, not their fault.

We need to bolster our midfield but a good draft with one or two ready made Dunstan types and a good free agent pick next year and we are back in it. Next year's free agency pool is way better than this year's so we just need to succeed then.

Your post about the draft shows how much luck is involved. If Menz and Vardy hadn't got injured and Bundy hadn't left it would have been our best draft since 2001. And with no picks inside 15! Wells might do it again this year so not all is lost.

Beams will stay a pie, but they said they are open to offers from other clubs.

Should trade our first Pick, Varcoe and Bundy to Pies for Beams!

Then next year get Danger!

Selwood, Beams, Danger, Duncan and Caddy would be a gun midfield!

:D

What is your next available pick higher than 47. Not saying he is worth it but just looking…
