And the petty sledges is a feature of your posting. Lift your posting and so will I.

Can't seem to recall many sledges I've made. Anyways, we can play the "you did...no you did...you did" game all night, but I'm not 5 yrs old.

I'll continue to support Danger this season. I'll cheer his goals and admire his play. I won't despise the look of him. Won't hate him simply for the purposes of hating him, and will respect any decision he chooses to make. That's not to say I won't be disappointed and guttered if he chooses to leave. But until then, he deserves our support as supporters. Seems like you're going to have a very depressing season.

I spent 45 mins with him earlier this week and found him to be personable, funny, and extremely positive considering all the negative that's posted on here about him. Thank God he doesn't read this crap. Then he wouldn't want to sign on!

Na, the sledge was all your post deserved.

I think Noble has proven to be a very good negotiator, but I think you are right in that maintaining the list should not be his responsibility.
I think Noble has been far from a good negotiator. With Tippett he started the trade with the Swans offering pick 23 and White, 4 weeks later after saying that wasnt good enough he went to the AFL to lodge paperwork to trade Tippett for pick 23 and White.
He couldnt get Jon Giles to our club twice, missed out on nearly every name he has gone after (Polec, Edwards, JC, Gibbs etc).
What we need to do is not just put guys in positions because they are next in line, but go after the best in the business. Noble has found his way from forward coach to list manager.

I started a thread on the main board ages ago about these list mangers / trade teams and how hard it is to nail them down on why one is good and another is average.

It seems like the perfect job in that when it works out and you get a good player you are genius and when a player trade doesn't go through or you draft someone useless there are outside circumstances that can be blamed.

The list manager cannot be measured by ladder position, and trying to work out who has the best hand to work with - and who makes the most of what they have is nearly impossible.

My gut feel is that although we haven't really threatened in 7 seasons, there appears to be a turning of the worm that might change that in the next few. I guess we will judge our list mmt team on what happens next. Lets see what Justin Reid does and what changes come to our attention.

First cabs off the rank are pretty important ones, but I'm not sure how much influence Justin will have on Sloane / Danger / Aish ?

he arranges the trades and the deals, its not his job to hand out "join the crows" brochures.

you can't hold him responsible for Polec, Edwards, JC and Gibbs choosing not to come here, and his hands were tied on the Tippett deal for VERY obvious reasons.

what picks we've actually managed to have over the last couple of years have been shuffled around quite efficiently, Matt, Brad, Jenkins, Lynch, Kerridge and probably a few others I can't think of have all turned up due to some fairly shrewd trading considering what we've actually had on the table to TRADE with.

The first problem with your post is you were using trades done by Rendell to prop up Nobles reputation.

Hold on. We've discussed this before. Rendell didn't do those trades. There were links quoted, as I remember. Noble managed all trading.

I'm under the same impression as Kristof

Rendell chose the talent, Nobes dealt with the clubs to get the deals done.

Even that is an exaggeration. Rendell advised on the draft pool. Nobel weighed that up against the other opportunities and made the deals.

"We are in a process and we will stick to it".

Contract negotiation speak 101.

Not sure how anyone could look in to that interview good or bad. Stock standard.

Danger said he wants to say, obviously if he hasn't put pen to paper by around mid season it is unlikely he will irrespective what he says, free agents who have put off re-signing do not have a good record for putting pen to paper after the half way mark.

I hope he stays, I really dislike free agency despite it being beneficial for my team.

Ta. AFC is doing everything it can to retain its players.

if he hasn't already committed to leaving, I am sure the club showing some positive signs as to going in a positive direction will encourage him to come to terms. I wouldn't fret too much about it until after the bye.

Media speculation aside. This matter is probably well on its way to some sort of resolution. In my eyes it means our club has some favour. Realisticly i dont think we are going to hurt top echelon for a few sesons. If this has some sway then so be it. Our position is our responsibility.

He doesn't strike me as the type to leave under these circumstances.

And we have discussed it before that Matt signed off on ALL trades. If he didnt want them didnt happen.
Matt was Nobles boss. Stop trying to reinvent history. Noble took over in 2012.

Two seconds on Google could have saved you from being so transparently and publicly incorrect.

Noble was list manager in 2011. He did those trades. He is interviewed constantly about them, and in the interviews talk about the support provided by Rendell and Ogilvie in advising on recruitment.

Rendell was recruitment manager. In no reality does the list manager report to the recruitment manager.

You've been wrong about this previously and a number of people corrected you. I'm not sure why you persist with this.

Unless you have a link that states something different - the first two pages on a simple Google search contradict you.

I'm willing to agree with you if you can come up with something, but you couldn't last time either.

Last night's game means less than nothing, so let me just put that out there first.

Having said that, I'm not sure I liked the way Podsiadly and Dangerfield hung around on-field after the game socializing with the Geelong players. Yeah sure, they have a lot of mates there, but it almost had an air of "we can't beat you, so let's laugh about how much better you guys are than us."

If you wanna have a laugh with your Geelong buddies, fine... Do it on your own time.

It wasn't just those two either. There were a few players that looked a little too happy to be having yet another loss against Geelong.

In the scheme of things, this is a minor trangression and as I said, it was in a game that means less than nothing - but it is an insight into the cultural meme that has permeated our club. This ******* near enough is good enough bullshit that has plagued us for nearly two decades.
Think you're over reacting a bit. This is these guys job and they would cross paths a lot with each other.

Noble couldnt scratch his arse unless Matt said he could. Thats like saying that a line coach is responsible for the success of a club when its the head coach.

oooh that's 0-30 mate... wrong on both counts.

Pardon the interruption.
Just wanted to say that while the PD stuff is all well and good, and who knows what will happen, I and most of the GFC board thought the PD in Cats colours was distasteful, rude and just plain unnecessary.

There is enough speculation out there without an "neutral" media broadcaster getting involved at a non professional level.

You guys have every right and should be pissed about that.

Cheers to a good year.

He's actually GM of football.

C'mon mate. Rendell was never Noble's boss.
