All this talk about matching offers isn't going to matter anyway.
I'm calling it, Danger will stay with the AFC.
There has been a bit of talk the last few weeks about him signing a one or two year contract.

Won't help him get to Geelong thoughit wouldnt be ridiculous for them if they offered 1.2 mill one year contract and then paid him 500k a year for the rest of his career

Certainly seems to be a lot less panic internally than externallyAll this talk about matching offers isn't going to matter anyway.

I would be betting on a 2 year deal. There has been a bit of talk the last few weeks about him signing a one or two year contract.

Well my sources, 2 of them, are both internal and have all but confirmed it.Certainly seems to be a lot less panic internally than externally

i hate it how melbourne media is making it out like 'can we still sign dangerfield after weve signed tex, douglas, sloane'. like as if we wouldnt be able to sign him..... hawthorn have hodge, lewis, roughead etc etc we will have massive amoutns of money. just 12 months ago we offered cameron 1 mill a yearThe deal has to be at least 2 years and the AFC should be able to match anything Geelong does, we should have more money than them. The only offer from Geelong we might not match would be length, if they offered a 10+ year deal we may not be willing to match because we don't want him to accept the offer and stay with a contract where he will be getting paid for years after he retires.
If Geelong don't offer Motlop a contract, he can't stay there.well what are we going to get in return on the trade table anyway if they trade their first to henderson? i cannot see motlop leaving if he knows dangerfield is coming.. im getting ready to get royally f*cked over once again. feel sick just thinking about this happening to us AGAIN

Communications strategy is definitely intentional. There is a quiet confidence emanating from the club.
We've said so little about it. Haven't reacted, aren't releasing statements about the situation, not trying to hose down speculation, not giving ultimatums or deadlines. Just a straight no comment every time. Rinse, repeat.
Not necessarily confidence that he'll re-sign, but at least that we have the situation under control.
West AdelaideSo in other words ...Geelong would have to choose between Henderson and DangerfieldNo, what I have been saying is that if Dangerfield agrees to go to Geelong, Connors will ensure that the cats offer up decent value, which will still be unders but more than fa compensation. He will not allow the cats to trade out their 1st rounder for another deal as it will jeopardise his client.
West AdelaideCorrect .....that first rounder would have to be a top 10 pick thoughI agree.
1st rounder & decent player like a motlop is the value.
West Adelaide3.2 mill over 5 years we would easily match.
Or trade out decent players. So in other words ...Geelong would have to choose between Henderson and Dangerfield
West AdelaideThey'd have to trade a player anyway to get a lower first round pickOr trade out decent players.
keyser sozeTomato?

In a rebuild that Geelong is in ...they're hardly going to want to sell the farm (trade out good players) to get Dangerfield
