When he is around the contest like at a centre bounce or ball up no doubt he can have a positive impact for his team but other than that he really struggles to get around the ball.
How much of that is footy smarts, how much is fitness and how much is carrying an injury who knows.
But for the rumored million plus AFL ambassador payments and media love based on his highlight reel vs actual game impact he does seem both overpaid and overrated.
Pray tell, do Handbagger supporters EVER have anything positive to say about a Hawk GF win?Geelong posters in particular said that the 5 goals were in junk time. (I see a little truth to this).
But Roughy's physical presence (along with fellow crunchers) was what won us that game. We were ruthless in that first qtr and Roughy lead this at every opportunity

If AA selectors did their job properly and you know, picked 'Wingman' on the wings then Smith would be two time AA!

Huh? Yeo wasn't AAThis year they picked Yeo over him.
Ridiculous.

Right.... Someone else can have a go if they are good enough and earn itThat moron Mark Allan said last night "I would love it if Hawks missed the 8", Harf was like what for? Answer give someone else a go. That is the dumbest excuse I've ever heard.
Coaches named their team differently but even they could only swallow putting one Hawk in and they had their Captain on the interchange so make of that what you willThe positions don't exist anymore.
The spine still does, but every other position is just a rolling group of players.

I know I look at several of those names and think they can only find a spot for Gunners who came 10th in our B&F so the 5 best players on the best team aren't good enough?Lol Murphy and Wood ahead of Gibson?
Huh? Yeo wasn't AA

You probably are getting him confused with Gaff. To be fair Gaff had a stellar year and rarely had a quiet game. Fully deserved AA.My mistake. I don't really care about it to be honest.
But I remember before it was announced most media 'experts' were saying Yeo in because he was the best wingman...... yeah right

Smith and Gaff are both the 2 best wingman (outside mids) in the game IMO.

Smith is without doubt the best wingman in the AFL.
