Ive always thought that Brodies game will translate to AFL far better than McCluggages but hes stats have been amazing. 37 disposals and 2 goals on the weekend. Crazy stuff. In saying that, Brodie is still #1 for me.
Strikes me as the pick between Hodge and Judd.
Do you take the better footballer at the time or the guy who could turn out to be a game changer.

The kid looks like a clearance machine exact type of player we need to add to the likes of Zac,Parish,Heppell.

I think people underestimate Brodies potential. They hear that hes a "sure thing" and think that means he'll only ever be a good player, but IMO if he can improve his contested marking and forward ability he could easily become a marquee player that you build around. Hes got the body, the inside game, the good skills. Add goal kicking and aerial ability to that list and you have yourself a Nat Fyfe.

Except Fyfe doesn't have goal kicking. he is a rather terrible kick of the ball. But you take everything else.
And I'm in the Brodie camp for that very reason. He looks like he would come in and make an impact.
That would be Parish, Francis, Merrett, Heppell and Tippa as 1st year players who come straight in.

Fyfe doesnt have a great set shot but hes one of the most dangerous 1on1 players inside 50.

As you said, Brodie should be able to impact considerately well next year (although that doesnt matter as much as long term impact). IMO Brodie compliments our side better than McCluggage.

Which one is the bigger campaigner? Take that one! I like that Darcy, Franga and a few others are campaignerish, we've lacked a bit of that for a while.

Need to take pick 1 to the draft and use it on McCluggage we have been crying out for a goal kicking mid for years. High possession winner and knows were the goals are
We have Parish, Merrett and eventually Langford and Laverde as goal-kicking mids. You can't have too many of them but I don't think it's a huge need.

Whatever happens though, I think we need to make sure we are in a prime position in the draft next year to take James Worpel. Kid is going to be an absolute jet. Exactly what our midfield needs.

Here is a refresher on McCluggage, the goal he kicks from the pocket is all class.

Would be happy with either :)

Both fill a need and look like they can have an impact straight away.
Yep although I prefer McCluggage id be happy with either of him, Brodie or SPS with pick 1

McCluggage vs Brodie

On TAC cup form McCluggage is miles ahead of Brodie.
In the champs McCluggage was better also.

From the form line we have McCluggage has been miles better then Brodie this season.
McCluggage averaging 29 possessions 2 goals a game is every young mids dream, numbers Brodie couldn't match even though he has the bigger body.

Footy smarts forward of centre is what seperates McCluggage from all the other mids.

Brodie has always been my boy at #1.

We need a Cripps-type prolific clearance-winning inside midfielder and Brodie is exactly that. Parish, Merrett, Heppell... yeah these guys can win the contested ball when called upon, but it isn't the hallmark of any of their games. We need a bustling clearance specialist to replace Jobe and Brodie looks to be the perfect candidate. Inside mids are the best players in the game (Dangerfield, Ablett, Fyfe, Selwood, Kennedy, Sloane all noted contested ball winners) and also the safest draft choices in my opinion. Think Brodie will be able to better translate his game to the AFL than McCluggage and will also be ready to play senior games quicker than most other draftees (potentially from Round 1 2017 even).

Draft watchers will know better, but unless McCluggage has shown a serious aptitude for winning the contested ball and isn't just a flashy outside type, then I'd be going for Brodie.

Pick 1 is Brodie v McCluggage for me. I lean towards Brodie but i see lots i like in McLuggage. Enough to potentially offer our 1st next year plus a sweetener to the Dockers for their 3rd (perhaps Howlett if the WA teams are still interested).

If we trade it and miss those two, then i go with a forward (Marshall if he is there at 5-7) and the best mid available with the next 2 picks (15-17 and 19).

While I like both McCluggage and Brodie alot and would be more than happy with either, SPS is still my guy. Think he is going to be a monster player.

Stats dont mean everything though.

Think if we somehow get Pick 4 from Gold Coast, Brodie would probably be more likely to slide there.
