But they get Brodie/McCluggage on top of their academy picks. Also a fair gap between the top three and the rest.
Their academy players are a good chance to go past 6 and 7 anyway I'm not sure they would be that desperate for pick 1

Assuming Carlton finish 13th and Collingwood finish 11th. GWS then trade a bunch of players for Carlton's Pick 6. Then we do Pick 1 for Pick 6 and Pick 7.
Could work. If we did lose Hibberd for Pick 26 and Howlett for Pick 48 I'd do:
ESS out/GWS in: Pick 1 + Pick 19 + Pick 26 + Pick 37 + Pick 48 + Pick 55 [5669 points]
GWS out/ESS in: Pick 6 + Pick 7 + Pick 16 (via GEE) + Pick 17 [5487 points]

We then take #6, #7, #16, #17, #73, #91, #109 to the draft.

We dramatically improve our draft position (4 inside the top 20), and GWS get another 182 points for academy bids.

Would take that deal and run.

It's a win-win. Then depending on the number of players we choose to cut loose, there's the option of trading #16 and #17 for another pick inside the top 10.

The power of google has eased my worries slightly in regard to McLuggage's peak physical growth. Here'a family photo I found with his old man, who looks to have a fairly decent frame. I'm sure he loves a tinny so perhaps shed a few kilos off.

ps. I love how the photographer included the lighting props in the photo - what a gimp.

Well sure, you can compare them in some regards, but not in the way you first mentioned. Companies don't trade players.

No but I'm talking about elite talent.

Elite employees get head hunted. Likewise elite players get poached and hold a lot of power to leave their employer. In AFL there is no non-compete clause so players actually have less constraints to join rival clubs as opposed to standard employees leaving to join competitors. GWS have tried to play hardball over Cam McCarthy and have ended up being a player short and losing trade value as a result of their stand off. They would have been better off cutting their losses and moving him on last year - given this example other clubs will be even more wary of holding onto a player who wants out.

And then there's the average players and average employees - you're gwilts, mckernans, nahas types and so forth that leave and join other clubs or companies without much fuss. These guys often get a pat on the back on the way out as they're not really wanted.

Read on FB Hurley and Hibberd likely to join Melbourne.
Give us Jesse Hogan in return and we throw in a set of steak knifes.
Would've thought two players of the calibre of Hurley and Hibberd are more than enough for Hogan.

Melbourne would need to give something massive. I read on their trade thread they would offer Salem, their second round and next years first round. Not even worth a response. Laughable.

Why would we want Prestia? With Merrett, Parish and Colyer, add Prestia and we'd just need Caleb Daniel (steak knives in a Hurley trade perhaps) and Peter Dinklage and we'd have a midfield that could win clearances by running between opposition players' legs.

Yes Prestia is out of contract, yes he wants to move to Vic but it makes zero sense for us to get him when we're crying out for a big bodied midfielder or two.

Just as well Big Footy trade hypotheticals are meaningless and trades almost never go down the way people here think they will.

With the talk of Hurls heading to the Dees and Hibbo, what would YOU ask from Melbourne, myself, Jesse Hogan. A proven gun, able to play both ends KPP, All Australian and Michael Hibberd who is elite kick and creates a lot off half back. Is honestly a fair deal.

And from the Dogs, there is not a lot I would like. Jake Stringer would be the one.

Salem, a top 10 pick next year and this years pick 25 isn't that bad when you consider what we got for Ryder, Crameri ect.

It wouldn't suit them to get rid of Hogan. They're on the rise, he's developing into a gun and should hit his peak when their overall list does. They're in a position where it would suit them better to offload picks rather than players.

In saying that, I'm not sure Hurley would suit them. Don't they have a reasonable defense already? Certainly they wouldn't have the same incentive to throw an entire Scrooge McDuck money pool Hurley's direction the way the Bulldogs do. The Doggies would just about be flag contenders if not next year then certainly the year after if they had Hurley, so I reckon they'll be leading the bidding for him.

Exactly, that's why we should take one of the top three. We've had Raz and Merrett from 2013, Laverde and Langford from 2014 and now Francis and Parish from 2015, basically six players of first round quality in the last three drafts. Would much rather top it all off by taking a genuine star.

Langford will be good IMO.

Who was the other one we got for Crameri? I know it was a big package thing.
That's because of good drafting not one Essendon supporter at the time would have been happy with the value we got for them leaving

Nah I think he will be pretty good in their back 6. Tom Mcdonald is a similar player would work well together. It will be hard to find a trade for him to be really honest. Picks may do fine, but I would love a player at a similar level. If we can get 3-4 picks in the top 3 plus our number one and our second round pick it would be a pretty good draft. We may find some diamonds in the rough. Fyfe was a pick 20, Merrett 27, Laverde 25. 9 picks inside 30, it is a very likely scenario.
