Just looking at a couple of the phantom drafts Marshall looks like he could go top 5!

What do you think of Josh Battle, Macca? Could he be a Jack Darling type?

Knightmare thinks we could bid on Brad Scheer from GC Academy. Any chance? Worth it?
i have seen him play. Freo are keen on him. Think of him as Chad cornes... 190cm and 90kg. can play amywhere on the ground

With our first, taking out any academy players and assuming that Brodie, McLuggage & Petrevski-Seton and McGrath are gone, my preference would be 1) Ainsworth 2)Marshall 3) Venables. All three i'd be happy with.

I'm really hoping we can get another pick or 2 inside the top 30, but say we only have our 3rd rounder onwards:
3rd rounder: Max Lynch (GWS bid), Matt Guelfi (likely gone, but best case scenario), Will Hayward or Brennan Cox
4th Rounder: Tye Bedford, Noah Hura, Cedric Cox
5th Rounder: Peter Ladhams, Sean Darcy
6th rounder: Chris Jansen, Josh Begley,

Rookies: 3 picks - Jack Roughsedge, Codey Ellison, Oscar Junker
Tough Question Macca: who do you trade/delist/rookie/re-rookie from our current list

Tough Question Macca: who do you trade/delist/rookie/re-rookie from our current list

1)
Delist: Monfries, Schulz, Stewart, Carlile, Mitchell (R), Krakouer (R), Hewett (R)

Re-Rookie: Snelling & Houston

2)
Then onto the trade table. This is absolute best case scenario sort of stuff. Taking the status quo as it is right now in terms of draft pick numbers:

Lobbe - Richmonds R2 Pick (24)

Hartlett - Norths R1 Pick (11)

Our 2017 R2 Pick - Jake Barrett & James Stewart (GWS)

Colquhoun & R4 Pick (63) - Brisbanes R3 Pick (47)

AhChee - Gold Coasts R3 Pick (41)

O'Shea - St Kildas R4 Pick (64)

This would leave us attacking the draft with picks 9, 11, 24, 41, 45, 47, 64

(Would maybe ask the question if GWS would swap 45 & 47 for 33 & 69, leaving us with 9, 11, 24, 33, 41, 64 & 69)

3)
Draft:
Predicting is hard and obviously incorrect due to no trades other than our own having been done, but as a crack:

OPTION ONE
[Ess1- Brodie; Bris2 - McLuggage; Fre3 - Marshall; Car4 - Petrevski-Seton; GC5 - Bowes; Rich6 - McGrath; GWS7 - Perryman; GC8 - Ainsworth
9 - Tim English (Ruck); StK10 - Scrimshaw
11 - Daniel Venables (Med Fwd/Mid)
24 - Josh Battle (KPF)
41 -Matt Guelfi (Mid)
45 - Brennan Cox (KPD/KPF)
47 - Tye Bedford (Mid)
64 - Oscar Junker (Mid)
R1 - Chris Jansen (Mid)
R2 - Codey Ellison (Ruck/KPF)
R3 - Alipate Carlile (KPD)

OPTION TWO
[Ess1- Brodie; Bris2 - McLuggage; Fre3 - Petrevski-Seton; Car4 - McGrath; GC5 - Bowes; Rich6 - Marshall; GWS7 - Perryman; GC8 - English
9 - Ben Ainsworth (Sm Fwd/Mid); StK10 - Scrimshaw
11 - Daniel Venables (Med Fwd/Mid)
24 - Josh Battle (KPF)
33 - Jo Atley (Mid)
41 - Max Lynch bid (Ruck) -> Brennan Cox (KPD/KPF) if unsuccessful
64 - Sean Darcy (Ruck) -> Cedric Cox (HBF/Wing) if Lynch is successful
69 - Oscar Junker (Mid)
R1 - Chris Jansen (Mid)
R2 - Codey Ellison (Ruck/KPF)
R3 - Alipate Carlile (KPD)

9 Changes to the Senior list - 7 Draftees, 2 Trades
3 Changes to the Rookie list including 1 re-draftee

I am keen on Jordan Gallucci, especially if we trade to get a 2nd or another first rounder. Has a great kick, knows how to find a target with his kicking even under pressure and also has great speed.

If we could get something like Marshall or English with out first pick, Gallucci with our second pick (pick from a trade), Jack Steele with a trade for our third round pick, and someone like Sweet or Graham with our fourth rounder I would be happy.

Dreaming in some of them Macca!

THe more i see of Battle the more i love him also same with Taranto, can see him turning into a midfielder

if lobbe finishes year like he played on sunday then agree.
id rather keep hartlett
2017 pick sounds good for the pair
ahchee sounds about right
oshea is more like a pick similar to ahchee. His best is up there, right now he has given up so sanfl form is rubbish.
with gws needing points, maybe they will do it (but pick 64 only gets 100 points). 5 picks under the pick 45 mark sounds good though.

I reckon Hartlett is worth a first rounder and maybe a second or third rounder.

They've got 3 first rounders already, plus will likely get decent picks for McCarthy, Tomlinson, Steele and WHE. I think GWS will be well sorted for points to get whoever of their academy kids they like.

Do you think the AFL ever wonders whether maybe they overdid it with concessions to GWS?

i think we should off load Lobbe at all costs, hopefully for a 2nd rounder, hopefully he plays the last 3 games and ups his trade value, we can then use the space in the salaray cap to get another genuine midfielder (steele etc)

also Young most probably has a late 2nd round trade value to the right club, if you were ever gonna trade him then this is the right time.

also does Butcher have any trade value, i doubt it, if any club was interested they would only be interested in him as a delisted free agent, i would give him the guarantee of a rookie spot but if he wants to walk then so be it

I dont know what do to with Ah Chee & Gray, but i think one of them should go

If a first round pick was on the table for hartlett id take it for 3 reasons, firstly to show the group the club means business and will be ruthless, secondly to get a genuine high quality youngster and thirdly to release some cash in the salary cap.

I would like to keep Pittard and i would be offering a contract extension at seasons end, but if his intentions are to move the following year we need to make the trade this year to maximize value for the club

Carlile is purely for backup purposes, if he was uncontracted id be letting him go but since he isnt i guess we can keep him for one more year.

He is still contracted but he said he is weighing up his future as to whether his body will hold up for another year.
Rumour was he was told mid season to find another club. Knowing the rumour, his answer to questions on 5AA about next year made more sense. He was very sheepish about what he was doing next year.
