Have read and seen this mentioned a few times on here, who is the source for this information?
Would be common knowledge around the club and thereabouts now that it's a non event

Unless we can get a proper A grader then the clubs focus this draft period should be getting as many picks inside the top 30 and building up a war chest for the following years to maybe go after a big gun. Next year will be somewhat of a mini rebuild year where guys like Dumont, Wood, Garner, Turner, Wagner, Clarke should be playing week in week out as well as introducing youngsters that have been recruited in the past couple of drafts. Forget about cast offs from other clubs. We have a decent enough list to at least be competitive next year. Hopefully the guys that have been around 2-3 years can flourish.

like (lost the thumb)

Barrett just said North expect to get an end of first round compensation pick. Believes the offer is 3x600.

Can't begrudge Wells for accepting that and can't begrudge North for letting him go.

We also have a shitload of cap room and could keep him also.

They won't say no to end of first compo though.

If we get an end of first round, that will be an amazing effort. 2017 is beginning to look more promising if we hold onto all three picks

He started this season off really well too IIRC, was pretty dominant.

Fell off a cliff really rapidly. Got to be something going on with him because he just seemed to have lost his enjoyment of playing.
Geelong have made Motlop play through a lot of injuries over the years.

Either it has taken it's toll on him and he's shot or he was struggling through pain.

Good player when up and about and yeah, he looks like he doesn't want to be out there....

That's 10 times better than I expected. I thought we'd get nothing for him since he is a unrestricted free agent. If this is the case, while it would hurt in the short term, Wells won't be apart of our next tilt, so this is almost a outcome I'd prefer.

Where did he say that? And did he say the club pies/Geelong?

If that's the case it's a win/win.

He stays and we get to see him do the Wellsy type stuff in the blue & white stripes.

He leaves and we get the compo. As much as it would kill me seeing him play for another side, if he's not happy at North then ta ta.

Still, something about Wells leaving just for money & spite goes against everything I've ever heard about him. Just doesn't add up. It's not like Collingwood have been loyal to their players since Bucks came in. Weird.

The turnaround of the Dogs in 2 years has been nothing short of amazing.
They had lost their coach, their captain had walked and were an absolute basket case. They are now playing in a grand final. Bevo is the catalyst for their rise and it shows in the attitude of their players.

We need a change and it needs to come from the top. Brads time is up and if we are fair dinkum about a rebuild, we need to make a call and cut him loose.

Massive pipe dream, but put a massive long term offer to Clarko.. and have an interim coach (Crocker) up until his Hawks contract is up.

Meh. For all we know they're Port circa 2007

Seriously though, both sides in the GF show that having a stable front office makes for quality on field.

Both have been ruthless. Swans in their ability to consistently produce quality, and the doggies turning the ship around and sticking a well devised plan.

Hopefully Ben Buckley can get us going the right way

Both sides in the GF have a 1+ Million dollar player on their list.

They seem to be going ok?

FFS offer Shiel $1.2 Million a year over 6. Work back from there. There will be a 20-23yo that will want a 100% pay rise over the next 6 years.

Yeah there's no way the dogs could go on without Boyd.

Exactly. So wasting $1 000 000 is irrelevant.

Now that you understand my point feel free to jump on my band wagon.

So whatever we offer is irrelevant if we front load it over the next 2 years.

If it fails who cares? Weweren't winning the flag in 17 or 18 anyway. By the time our kids are ready we have a star on year 3 money which will be 50% of year 1 and 2.

Offer that type a deal to Isaac Heeney
