List Mgmt. Rookie Draft 2016 (Got Eddy Bretts, pillaged SNUFL)

AFL.com says that Sproule was listed as a category B rookie by GWS. This has to be wrong. If correct, we could have taken him in the rookie draft.

He was pre-selected by GWS before the rookie draft so we couldn't have got him.

Each club is permitted to recruit up to three "Category B" rookies. Category B rookies are recruited directly rather than drafted, and represent players from non-traditional recruiting backgrounds. Players who may be recruited as Category B rookies include:[1]

  • International players, who are neither Australian citizens nor residents
  • Players from the New South Wales scholarship program
  • Players from the International scholarship program
  • Zone selections by Sydney and Greater Western Sydney from New South Wales or the ACT
  • Zone selections by Brisbane Lions and Gold Coast from Queensland
  • Players from other sports, who have not been registered with an Australian rules football club for three years
In the specific case of Irish international rookies, a club may have no more than one Irish Category B rookie at a time; but, the club is permitted to recruit other Irish players as Category A rookies, and may still recruit them directly without putting them up for draft.

From such non-traditional recruiting backgrounds as Albury. ******* bullshit.

Definitely time for an angry old man to yell at Port.

If you want a laugh head over to Safooty.net and under SANFL take your pick of topics but 2017 player movement is a bit of gold. One person suggesting to add players to our rookie list we should of had to trade for them.
I can't wait till we win the SANFL flag next year. Stay injury free, get good years out of Atley and Drew and we'll hard to stop.

We must win an SANFL flag under the current structure. They are only going to make the conditions more restrictive for us in the future. Winning one whilst the "NO ALFS IN TEH SNAFFLE" flogs are in full voice would be glorious.

If PAFC had never got an AFL licence we'd either be just as salty as these safooty.net trogs, or celebrating our Eleventyth SANFL flag.

They didn't nominate him as a father/son though?

Either way, I know for fact that they weren't interested, but that changed when it looked like no other club was going to pick him either.
They nominated him as a pre-selected rookie and could do this because they lodged paperwork for f/s in main draft.

I think you guys should go easy on Berry. His mum died of cancer and just maybe he was tearing up at the thought of her not being there to see his greatest achievement in his short life.

See, these are the stories and individuals that should and do touch us emotionally on a deeply-relatable level.

Not curiously-bloated attention-seeking middle-aged men who bring shame on themselves at every opportunity.
