hmmm interesting take on your situation. IMO having 14 players miss a whole year of footy means they will struggle with match fitness and bodies likely to be unconditioned for the demands of the season and likely to have a long injury list. Jobe will be 32 at the start of the year so has 1 maybe 2 more seasons left. Joe Daniher is still along way from being considered a capably AFL footballer and you have little else in terms of key position fwd until Francis proves himself (which i think he will)

I think 2017 you will finish bottom 4, with Carlton, Brisbane and Port Adelaide. You will probably climb progressively with a strong midfield with Parish, Merrett, McGrath & Heppell but will still be behind young gun sides like Dogs, GWS, Saints, Melbourne for at least 5 years.
If we finish bottom 4 i will chop my nut off and film it. Daniher not a capable AFL player? SMH even with inaccurate kicking for goal he will form 1 of the best Duo's in the league with Hooker.

GWS will have at least 5 premierships by 2024..... 30 years after Fremantle was first founded (Fremantle themselves will still be on 0) :D.
GWS will play in plenty of Prelims and even GFs, but I don't think they will ever hold up the cup.

And I'm saying that despite the concerningly low standard of football on display in the AFL recently which has opened the door for mediocre teams like Geelong in 2016 to be premiership contenders. When Geelong actually find some form this year it wouldn't surprise me if they went the whole season undefeated - no other teams will be much chop compared to them.

Just sit and watch bud quote me

Get that idea from being on the verge of success in 2012-2014 coupled with the addition of some top end talent and who we found last year.

Top end talent like what?

You've lost a lot. Carlisle, Hibberd, Ryder etc.
What top end talent have you brought in?

I honestly cant even speculate on top end talent...literally nobody that wasnt there before.

I think Zach Merrett would be considered top end talent, looks a star. Parish looks like he is well on his way apart from that they are relying on top end draft picks Mcgrath & Francis to show something but until they do they are just potential.

2012 - Finished 11th, 3 games outside of the 8
2013 - Would've finished 7th but were rightly kicked out of finals
2014 - Finished 7th and were embarrassed by North in the last quarter of the elimination final when they kicked 5 goals to 2

I'm sorry, but where exactly were Essendon on the verge of success between 2012-2014, please show me because I don't know. Essendon have added some good young players like McGrath and Parish, granted, but they have also lost key players like Carlisle, Ryder, Melksham and Crameri, not to mention players like Watson, Stanton and Goddard who are all well into their 30's now with no more than 1-2 years left at the most. The Bombers are nowhere near finals, let alone being the only team that can stop GWS. A lot of Essendon supporters are obviously excited to get some of their best players back and have everyone on the park obviously, but some serious overrating of their list is going on.

First half of the season in 2012 !!!

The AFL has accidentally created a monster (Essendon list next few years.) And its the only thing that can stop their GWS.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but this is just idiocy. The dogs just won a flag with a younger list than yours, and I'd take the lists of my club or the Saints well before the bombers as well.

Essendon are a chance to sneak into the 8 next year but I cannot see them being as good as us or the saints long term, let alone the bulldogs...

Doing dumb shit breaking all the laws nanananananananananananananganator

Thats a very subjective post - you forgot to mention we were embarrassing north for most of that game, were under a serious Asada cloud, held top 4 for decent amount of time through 2012-2014, Tippa, Daniher, Kelly, Fantasia etc etc. No point arguing we are both just wishful thinking anyway.

Parish Tippa Daniher Langford Fantasia Merrett to start with and thats excluding mcgrath francis and any other players yet to prove themselves.

But they havent come in, really.

Merrett improved out of sight while the other guys were banned.
Parish is still young and inconsistent.

They've got a lot of YOUNG talent, but at this stage nobody they've brought in is top end

Do tell which areas you are clearly stronger than the Dogs, Saints and Demons?
Compare your best 22 to this and we will start from there.

Baguley Hartley Mcgrath
Tippa Hurley Goddard
Zaharakis Heppell Parish
Colyer Daniher Fantasia
Langford Hooker Francis

Leunberger Merrett Watson

Kelly Myers Laverde Stanton

We weren't on the verge of success in that period.

We were playing good quality football in the first half of our seasons and had some nice clutch wins along the way which brought some excitement to the game; but we were never going to compete as consistently as teams like Geelong, Hawks or Swans did - that's a given.

Essendon's potential is shrouded in a bit of mystery, which I think is the source of a lot of Bomber fans excitement. Personally, I think we have a bright future; but we still need to respect the competition. GWS will more than likely monster the AFL the next 5yrs, the Doggies are a remarkably talented young team and could well and truly pull consecutive cups, St Kilda and Melbourne are on the rise and Sydney are still a bloody good young team.

You don't think Merrett is top end talent?

Lol why do bombers supporters think they have half a chance this year? Youve got two good young players (parish and merrett) and a ensemble of nowhere men. Forward line is jjst a pathetic joke. Backline is nowhere... i dont understand
